We do both! most times it’s across, but i’m not completely against the idea of sitting beside each other either haha
When we sit with other couples we generally sit beside each other, but I would prefer to sit across because I would rather be able to look straight ahead at him not the company.

We always have a laugh when we see a couple sitting on the same side.
ETA: I mean a couple who is dining alone, obviously.

We’re same side sitters. We don’t make out or grope each other or anything, but we like to sit close.

I like to sit across from him so that I can see his face more easily, hold hands, etc. We’ve sat side by side before and, um, I didn’t really get the point. 😛

Usually SO and I sit across from each other, but a couple of times I’ve felt a little extra sappy and sat next to him. We’re long distance, though, so sometimes I just want a little extra closeness, and he’s certainly never complained. We don’t make out or grope each other or anything in public because that’s just…ick. If we’re with friends, we’ll almost always sit next to each other.

As per usualy, @Nona99: has summed it up pretty well for me.

always across – It would never cross my mind to sit beside him if we were alone..if we’re in a group it’s 50/50

Always across from each other. It feels really awkward to sit on the same side.

@graygodess20: It depends. Someties if I haven’t seen him in a while we will sit on the same side, but sometimes we sit opposite. If there is a sports game on we will totally sit on the same side so we can see the TV

@Kit_Kath: We aren’t a PDA couple, but we like to sit on teh same side sometimes. But we are long distance so I guess when I’m with him I just like to be able to be near him.
Also, I don’t judge couples either way.

When it’s just the two of us I sit across from him. I like to look at people’s faces when I talk to them.

@FoxyBride14: Yeah that was kinda the entire point of my post…

Depends on the size of the table. Usually we like to sit next to each other so we can hold hands and snuggle a bit. We don’t do full on kissing or PDA but dinners out are special for us so we like to be close.

I don’t know if this is like an American thing, but Ive never seen a couple sit beside one another outside of bars, long tables, gatherings and the like. Do you mean, the two of you have your own little table, and you sit beside eachother? I just, I don’t understand why?
I like to face my Fiance during dinner. I find it incredibly strange to sit besode ones partner during dinner date…
