Sunflowers in an unexpected color, I’m using dark purple ones in my barn wedding, along with peonies and dahlias.

I’m going along the lines of Dark Elegant Country, and these are the inspiration pictures for my flowers: (My flowers will be purple to balance all the black!)

What a coincidence! Rustic Elegance is our wedding theme too!

Personally, I find peonies and other frilly flowers (parrot tulips, ruffled lilies, etc) more romantic than rustic or elegant, but that’s just my preference.

I’m leaning toward architectural flowers (roses, hydrangeas, orchids, dahlias, anemone, honeysuckle, etc) in soft, neutral colors (white, cream, ivory) or nature-inspired shades (greens, browns, beiges etc.)  I feel that a loose, free-form boquet with natural elements brings in the rustic aspect, while the neutral, nature-inspired color palette makes it elegant.

@Miss Mauverick:  That’s a gorgeous bouquet. Especially that dahlia in front. Can a flower be delicious? Cuz that’s the first word that comes to mind.

@Nellular: Delicious is right! I’m madly in love with this boquet; it’s free-form, lush, and nautral… everything I’m looking for in a boquet.
