I try not to take lots of medicines.

I try toughing it out, I try breathing steam and drinking hot tea. And if I really need it then I’ll take medicine.

As for the nighttime medicines,I try not to take NyQuil for more than 2-3 nights in a row, otherwise I end up to where I can’t fall asleep without it; I guess my body gets accustomed to it pretty quickly.

Hott tea.. with LOTSA honey! it just makes me feel better. lol

And then I totally medicate at night.. can’t do during the day b/c I’d be a useless mommy and that isn’t really an option. lol But come 7 o’clock you better believe I’ll be taking me an Advil Cold and Sinus Nighttime.. and I’d be knocking out. lol

Tylenol Severe Cold Sinus doesn’t knock me out and works really well. You can buy it in a multipack which comes with the daytime one and then one for nighttime that will knock you right out.

Whenever I have a head cold, Nyquil/Benylin and Halls Extra Strong are my arsenal. Other than that, I have lots of tea, fresh oranges, and chicken noodle soup with buttered toast. I feel better just thinking about it, and I don’t even have a cold!

I’m not afraid to medicate when I’m sick (and not pregnant). I’m a huge fan of Advil Cold & Sinus. It usually dries me up and makes my head not feel like it wants to explode! If I need something to work faster though, I do the Tylenol Rapid Release Cold medicine. That stuff works so quickly, but also wears off a lot faster.

@.twist.: I am a fan of meds too because if I don’t use something like mucinex to dry everything up I end up VERY sick. My doctor always used to recommend the advil cold and sinus but since Tylenol came out with the severe cold sinus it’s been great.

I almost never take any meds.  The most I do is cough drops, and the occasional advil if my cramps are paralyzingly bad, but most the time I just deal with that too.

I don’t like putting anything into my body, but natural stuff.  (cancer survivor and I’ve enough crazy bs flowing through there already) However, when I have bad cramps I will pop an advil or two to help deal.

For head colds and such like you’re describing, DayQuil and NyQuil are my friends. They work wonders for me (and have never caused me sleep issues).

Throat stuff, I typically just use cough drops / throat drops.

Headaches/pains/etc, sometimes I’ll take some ibuprofin, but typically don’t do anything.

If it’s a cold, meds will only help symptoms, not actually make you better. I typically have sinus issues, so I take lots of Mucinex (the only expectorant/decongestant that has ever worked for me) and advil. And lots of water and sleep!
