You’re getting married right across the street from my house! If you’re looking for an after after party I wholeheartedly recommend Second Chance Saloon (next door to the Other Barn.) They’re laid back and the prices are great; they’re our favorite bar in Columbia… and not just because they’re within stumbling distance of our house 😉
We haven’t gotten extremely far in our own wedding plans, but here is what we know so far. We live in Columbia, both our families are in Calvert Co., we’re getting married in St. Mary’s Co., and (full disclosure) I work at a bridal shop in Laurel, so it’s kind of an all over Maryland affair!
Venue: Greenwell State Park (Hollywood MD)
Dress: My mom’s (1975)
Bridal Shop: Marilyn Johnson Sewing & Design Studio (Laurel MD)
Colors: royal and navy blue, lime green
Save-The-Date Cards: designed by my brother

I’m getting married there next year, I rented the place for the entire day (10 am to 1 am) so it’s expensive but you can book for a block of time if you want…also, you have to bring in your own caterer, flowers, decor, etc. Start saving up now and contract for it early, it’s very popular. I just barely got my date and I contracted in Dec 2011 for April 2013!

im having my wedding/reception at the josephine butler parks center in Feb 2015. I’ve only signed paperwork, etc. so I don’t have any “real” experience working with them. But I can say, so far so good. I LOVE the cozy-ness.

Congrats on finding your venue @yayimengaged! How many guests will you have? What all are you hosting at your venue. I have 120 guests and want to host ceremony, cocktail, and reception at one location. Do you think the park center can accomodate this? Is it big enough to have everyone in one area. I know this sounds crazy, but I don’t want a wedding where people are all in different rooms spread out. Thanks!
