I have noticed lateley that so many wedding photos of the bride and groom look realy solemn, serious, with no smiles. I do really like some of the shots of brides looking down etc. (I have quite a few myself), but one particular blog I looked at didn’t even have one single photo of the couple smiling!! I wonder if down the track we will look at our photos and ask ourselves….where are the smiles!!
Anyone else notice this?

I noticed this when we were looking at photographers. Loads of photos with the couple looking like they’d had a row haha
our photographer is much happier – we look like we love each other in our engagement photos so I’m optimistic for the wedding!

one of the thing I liked about our photographer was all the animation he got into the albums. Yes there’s moody ones and dramatic ones but the whole range of photos over all is fun. I know what you mean and it’s something I specifically looked out for.

We didn’t have this particular problem as I’m “hysterically grinning” in most of our photos, if you ever heard of people having an “ugly cry” I can tell you that I suffer more from the “ugly smile” and I’m just happy we have enough photos where my smile level is slightly more normalised and contained without popping neck veins, distorted cheeks and what can only be appreciated as “crazy eyes” 😬 For this reason I like our non smile pics too ☺️ (and it’s true what you say, we were made to pose a number of times without smile, for those “intensity of love shots” which can border on “you better sleep with one eye open”). DH is lovely and photogenic and look great either way 👍

This is my favourite because we look so happy!

This is an interesting point you raise! We are fans of a more anecdotal/documentary style of photography so have ended up with a good mix of the more formal and more fun shots from our wedding.

We went for a photographer who mostly does documentary style photography and we havea whole mix of emotions going on, ranging from me looking all serious walking down the aisle, to almost being in a fit of giggles when I couldn’t get my husband’s wedding ring onto his hand and almost everything else in between 😀

Interesting observation! Hubby and I were all smiles after we said “I do” and I’m glad that’s what was mostly captured; aside from candids where we were focused on doing other things, which is fine. This is one of my favorites 🙂

I don’t think there is one picture of us not beaming from ear to ear! Lol here’s some cute, happy ones!

We are smiling in most of ours except for the ones where we are kissing

We are totally in love (or faking it well haha).

We chose a photographer who does a lot of candids, so I feel like we got a good mix of posed/natural shots. Here was a picture from a friend right after the ceremony and another picture from our photographer, I love both of them!

These are some of my favorite smiling shots!
