@MissBettsy:  We seem to have the same taste. My ring is gold with a natural untreated ruby. We custom-made the design.

Mine’s yellow! Custom made w/ 2 blue sapphires on the side. Yellow’s such an underdog. I’m seeing it more and more frequently tho!

I love your ring.  It is very unique!  I love the detailing from the side view.  I also like that the band is a little wider.  Beautiful!

@helena31:  Wowza! What a special design, and I love rubies (my birthstone), especially in yellow gold. What are you doing for a wedding band?

While ring shopping about a month ago we were told, by a very high end jewelry store “Yellow gold is not currently in fashion.”.  We told her we didn’t CARE what was in fashion, that’s what we wanted.  She did grudgingly admit almost all the stock rings could be ordered in yellow gold if that was our wish. lol.  It’s all good, when she showed us the Estate Jewelry Cabinet I said “so this is dead people’s stuff?”.  You should have seen her face! “Oh!  NO, it’s NOT!”.  Although a lady I work with who buys jewelry there said it is, and she’s known some of the people who died who’s jewelry showed up in that cabinet.

We ended up getting gifted a family ring (marquise diamond and yellow gold) that we will have recast, once we decide on a jeweler and I decided what I want.  Fiance insists since I’ll be the one wearing it.  But yellow gold was my first choice anyway!

I think it sets off the diamond better.  Also worth thinking about before deciding on a ring is that depending on your skin tone the gold or silver color will look better against your skin.
