Ladies, we have survived the spring and summer months and made it to the most wonderful time of the year! College Football finally kicks off Thursday night! I enjoyed the football chat that was started last fall, so I decided to start a thread for the 2013 season.
Last season I started a Yahoo pick ’em league for any bees interested in a little friendly competition. If y’all are interested I will set up one for this season and post the group and password later tonight (fantasy sports are blocked at work )
So what team(s) do y’all cheer for? How do you think they’ll do this season? What games are you most looking forward to? Will anyone top the SEC for the National Championship this year?
To answer my own questions, I’m a Texas A&M fan. I’m hoping Manziel is cleared of this NCAA bs so he can start, at which point I anticipate a BCS bowl, MNC would be ah-mazing if we can get past Bama again. I’m obviously looking forward to the Bama game the most. And the only team that might top the SEC is Ohio State, but I doubt it will happen.

Of course no one can top the SEC for national champion! Hahaha I’m a Badgers fan because I’m from Wisconsin but my true football love is Bama.
I despise Ohio with a serious passion. Also the longhorns and the gators. Never liked them never will.
ETA: Being in Canada now it’s so hard to get college football games to watch. I’m thinking about begging to have some channels added to our cable!

Gator fan. I’m not getting my hopes up this season, I think we’ll finish 2nd in the East and end up at the Outback bowl. If Urban Meyer wins anything I will be sooooooooo mad, luckily the Buckeyes like to choke.
Manziel is such a clown, I want to like talented players but he makes it impossible. I am looking forward to watching Clowney annihilate people.

@littlemisst08: Woo hoo… good thread!
LSU fan here, and my top games of the year are going to be:
1> Bama, of course. The rivalry between the two has always been intense, but the past 5 years or so, the ante has been upped. We play them in T- Town, so that is strike #1 against us as far as advantage, and they have a QB who has now played in 2 national championship games, you just can’t really beat the experience he has. I am hopeful for LSU’s Mettenberger, but I guess we shall see!
2 and 3> tie between Georgia and A&M. We play the Aggies at home, so I am counting on some Saturday night in Death Valley ju ju to help us out! We play Georgia at their place, and they have been building quite the program lately. I suspect that Manziel will miraculously be cleared. It is all about the money at the end of the day, and even the NCAA wants to put asses in the seats. He will get a slap on the wrist and on his way in no time.

@LGenz: Manziel is such a punk a$$ kid, but he’s our punk a$$ kid. I tolerate him so long as we win. If he really took that money and gets suspended I will be pretty disgusted.
Sooo looking forward to watching Clowney!
@wisher558: I would die without my football channels! Beg and plead, lady!

@LGenz: Johnny football is so irritating. I know you’ll disagree being a Gators fan but I hated Tebow when he was in college and knew that he’d turn out like he did in the NFL. I’m pretty sure the same will happen with Johnny football.

My university has a few intra-conference rivals but we’re not a huge football school so I’m more into the NFL but FI’s a Boomin Sooner, so I root for them by default lol

@Mrs_Amanda: I thought of you when I started this. I was wondering if I could tag someone without “replying” to them!
I forgot you’re LSU. How do you feel about playing us on Thanksgiving Day next year?
I think Manziel will be cleared, as well. If Cam got cleared, he can be, too! I figure we’ll be branded as cheaters but at least we can win.

@wisher558: I think Johnny’s going to need the perfect coach, the right offense, and a great O-Line to succeed in the NFL. Time will tell….

@wisher558: yay Badgers!!! I went to school there and unfortunately I now live in Ohio. It’s been a bit embarrassing with them losing to Ohio the past couple of years but I still proudly wear badger gear and cheer loudly in the Ohio bars for the badgers! I’m looking forward to seeing how Anderson coaches them!
I enjoy college football a lot more than the NFL! That being said, I haven’t really followed it much this summer to make any predictions right now but I will be watching the games when they start on Thursday!! I would be up for some fantasy football fun!

@QuirkySocialite: Love the NFL as well. It’s always so much fun to just start spewing stats to guys who just sit there with their mouths open like you’re an alien.
Who’s your favorite team?

WE ARE!! I am a bleed blue and white Nittany Lion! Obviously no bowl game, but I will be watching every game and screaming like the crazy fan I am. (That I can… I do get married when we play Kent State…..).
I also really like Bama!! Yes sir, Roll Tide!
It’s interesting to see what other people are thinking about the NCAA recently, too….

@wisher558: I had 0 illusions about Tebows chances in the NFL but at least he wasn’t a giant douche.

Michigan Wolverine here! I’d totally be game for some College Pick’ems.
As always, I’ll be looking forward to the Ohio State, Nebraska, Michigan State, and Notre Dame games. I think we’ll do much better this year. Hoke has had some more time to recruit, develop the team, and well, build up a freaking defense! Also, as much as I loved Denard, he wasn’t a very good QB. It’ll be nice to have Gardner.
I would LOVE for someone other than the SEC to make it to the championship. I’m so sick of the love affair ESPN has with them. The SEC is good, don’t me wrong, but I don’t think they’re that good.

@littlemisst08: that’ll be a tough one to get. He’ll go to one of the lower teams on the totem pole I’m sure. That’s usually what happens. :/
@MrsBeck: I worked with a guy who was born in Ohio but lived in WI for most of his life. He was a buckeye fan, we got into so many heated debates!
To all the NFL fans on here also can we talk about the Jets circus going on? Why won’t they play McElroy. He was a decent qb at Bama but they won’t give him the time of day.
