I’m a runner too – my next race is the Leavenworth Oktoberfest half marathon on October 3rd.  Still have a couple of long runs to get in, I need to do a 9 miler and an 11 miler and I should be good then.  My Fiance runs marathons (a lot faster than me though) so I can usually do my longer training runs with him – but they are more like recovery runs for him which works for us both!  I struggle to get consistency in my running as well – some weeks I could do 3 5 milers and other weeks I don’t get any runs in.  I do crossfit and yoga as well along with a few spinning classes for cross training.

Hey hey, slow runner here! I’m not fast whatsoever, but still counts in my book. I have done 26 races over all. 23 5K’s, 3 mud runs, 1 4 miler and 1 10K. I took this year off from racing due to cost and my wedding, but I do have my 2nd 10K coming up in October. It’s our yearly anniversary, so we always do a run and celebrate the weekend!

strongwithshannon:  Welcome!  I just started running two years ago, so I’m just starting to consider myself a runner.  I have run two 5ks, a 5 miler, and a 10 miler with my first half marathon next month!  I was always althletic growing up and played a ton of sports, which I missed a lot after I graduated.  I tried many many times to start running, but hated it with a passion and got discouraged when I couldn’t run for very long without feeling winded, even though I could elliptical the day away.  During law school, one of my sorority sisters asked me to run a 5k with her for a type of cancer that she had lost a lot of family members to.  I was super intimidated even thinking about running for 3 miles, but decided to stick it out.  I taught myself that I could run for more than I few minutes as long as I ran really really slow!  I am still by no means fast, but running makes me feel so strong and powerful!

strongwithshannon:  Heyy!! I’m a runner every day, but some days I’m a jogger and some days I’m a slogger (slow jogger, like exceptionally so such that it deserves its own title haha).  I’ve run a billion 5ks and ran my first half marathon last year in Newport, RI! (it was along the mansions and water and was just spectacular) I’ve run a Color Me Rad 5k so far this year, and 4th of July 5k in Boston, and will be running a Turkey Trot 5k in FI’s hometown later this year.  Also, Fiance and I signed up for the Rhode Island Triple Crown of Half Marathons this year – so far we’ve run one (in Providence) and have one coming up next month (in Jamestown, RI) and one in October (that same one in Newport!).  By the end of that third half, we’ll be receiving our Triple Crown finisher medals and I am SO PUMPED for that moment!!
