    – Using silk flowers (DIY) instead of fresh
    – Using DJ for ceremony instead of live musicians
    – Doing beer, wine, and a signature drink instead of full open bar
    – Venue is a pretty basic reception hall that our caterer provides at no cost (but see first item in splurging… we are dressing it up)

    – Lighting/Linens/Decor
    – Photobooth
    – Honeymoon

Take my splurges with a grain of salt though! Our wedding should come in altogether (minus honeymoon) at roughly $5000.

    Splurging on venue

    Splurging on attire

    Splurging on photographer

    Splurging on alcohol

    Cutting videographer

    Cutting flowers

    Cutting professional hair and makeup

(Also after writing splurge a few times in this post, I realized what a strange word it is.)

We are splurging on photography and videography because face it, after the wedding that’s ALL you will have left. We also splurged on the honeymoon, my dress, hair/makeup. We cut on our cake, the flowers, DJ (somewhat), decor

Splurged on my dress definitely – $2100 but that includes alterations…….

I’m cutting costs on flowers (I figure they die anyway) and stationary. Also I’m getting a deal from my brother on photography/videography.

Splurging on the Photographer and his Wedding Band. Definately the two most important bit for as we get to keep those forever.

    Cutting on:

Photography – cousin and uncle doing them

    Videography – friend doing

    Hair- uncle doing

    Make-up – cousin doing

Venues – same place for both so we get a discount

Decor – Hopefully a lot of DIY things or can find at 2nd hand stores

    Splurging on:

Dress – Went $1200 over budget and that doesn’t include alterations

Flowers – Adding centerpieces which originally we said we weren’t doing flower centerpieces

Splurging on dress, flowers, dj and photography. Everything else would be in the cutting on category.
