We’re flying from SF to Kenya, and then going to Tanzania and Zanzibar.  It should be amazing!

We were looking into Santorini also! My brother got back from a month long backpacking trip and ended up there. He just LOVED it! I’ve done some pretty extensive research on the area and have been told over and over that Oia is the place to stay, so look into that area! Our only concern was that the beaches aren’t that great… Very rocky. Also, I tried finding hotels with nice big pools or spas and the only ones that have them are way out of our price range 🙁 But we would’ve been going in September, when many hotels have closed for the winter season…So you may have better luck in June!

We are now leaning towards Kauai instead, which although won’t be new to us, will definitely be that relaxing beach location we’ve been going for.

Side Note- Is it weird that we’ve planned more of the honeymoon so far than we have for the actual wedding! I can’t wait!!!

Well, just as an update… after seeing this thread, I checked out flight prices and they actually went up instead of down in the past few months 🙁  We may be delaying this trip for a few months.

@doctorgirl You will love Kenya.  I went there a few years ago and it was the most amazing vacation I could have imagined.  This was before FH but he has traveled extensively also.

@misschocolatechip I loved Kauai when I went and you are right the beaches will be so relaxing.

We are looking into Belize at The Turtle Inn or France.  Oddly enough neither of have ever been to France so we really wanted to go somewhere neither of us had been.

@kelly, I used to live in Uganda, so my heart is firmly planted in East Africa!

@kristasuzanne: if you haven’t been to santorini before, you absolutely must go to oia to watch the sunset.

We’re set to go to Shanghai for a few days to see the solar eclipse (my fiance is hooked on eclipses) then head to Bali for 2 weeks! We’ll close our trip with a few days back in Hong Kong. We were shocked to see how inexpensive Bali was – we are literally staying in a beach front cottage for 8 days for under $800! Then we’re heading around the rest of the island to take in some of the culture and land. Needless to say, we’re pretty stoked.

We’re also planning on the Greek Islands…so thanks for the tips!

We don’t want it to be a sightseeing trip, but we can’t imagine going all that way without a couple days in Athens.  Then Santorini, perhaps Mykonos…any other thoughts?  We don’t want to move around too much, but a couple destinations might be nice.  My FH is doing most of the planning, he’s pretty much just looking for places with incredible views and some privacy:)

By The Way, krista, if you want any info about Venice let me know (PM me).  I spent a week there in July 2007 and absolutely loved it!  But many people find it very expensive and unfriendly, which I think comes from not being able to find the wonderful and less visited gems.  I was staying with the sister of one of my colleagues so I got a very unique view of the city…

Off the top of my head, definitely go out to Burano and Torcello (don’t just stop in Murano).  And take the stairs to the top of the campanile in Torcello.  It’s totally different from what you see from the campanile in Piazza San Marco, but also an amazing and incredibly worthwhile view (oh, and skip the fancy and expensive restaurant on Torcello, I hear it’s totally not worth it).  There’s also a great, and very local, place to get spritzes on the Grand Canal near the Rialto bridge (on the opposite side of all the tourist restaurants).

Kristasuzanne – I feel the same way! It has not quite hit me that we will be on our way for our honeymoon in about 4 months! It’s so funny because my life is consumed with DIY projects and planning for the wedding!
