We just got back from our Honeymoon this past Sunday so I can give an updated budget…

  • Cruise (7 nights to Bermuda in a mini suite) including bus charter to and from the port: $2800
  • On board account: $600 ($400 or so on booze alone)
  • Prepaid gratuities and drink package: $220
  • Spending money in Bermuda: $500

Total: $4120 give or take a few bucks. After adding in passport fees and all of the summer clothes we bought before going, we’re probably close to $4500.

We are going to Costa Rica for 9 nights. Flights are costing about $400 a piece and we are estimating the total cost being between $4000 – $4500 altogether. Our travel agency is setting up honeymoon registry so depending on how well that does we may do upgrades (or downgrades if need be). We are going in July which is considered their “green season” so we will be saving money that way.

We are going to three locations in Costa Rica – The Caribbean coast for beaches and snorkeling, the Areanal Volcano for thermal spas, and the Osa Peninsula for rainforests. The Osa is the most expensive location but it is also considered the most biodiverse place in the world. We will be staying in a bungalow atop of the trees amongst the monkeys, parrots, and sloths!

We found a wonderful travel agency, Reef to Rockies, which is actually a non-profit organization that works with the lodges. In order for the travel agency to bring hotels / lodges people they have to agree to donate 5 – 10% of our cost to conservation.  So basically we are playing the same amount we would if we went on own (with out a travel agency) but 10% of what we are paying is going towards a great cause. My Fiance is the one who found them and since he is a wildlife conservation biologist he loves what they are doing. In fact, they have even arranged for us to do some volunteer work with a animal sanctuary there. We will be working with sea turtles!!

We are huge travelers and can not wait! We actually started planning our honeymoon before our wedding. We have also both been to Kenya and Tanzania and highly recommend doing a safari there for a honeymoon. Any of the “Sopa Lodges” in Africa will be wonderful honeymoon spots.

@efitzger: My Fiance and I just got back from there and it was so expensive! It’s beautiful though.

We are going to Montreal for 7 days and think for everything it will come in around $3500.

we’re spending about 2200 total before you factor spending money

7 night cruise leaving from miami, FL and going to mexico, belize, honduras, and the grand caymans. Base rate for the cruise was about 1200 for the two of us with an oceanview cruise… flight was 600 for the two of us and 400 for shore excursions.

We’re going to Costa Rica for 10 days in February. With airfare and 2 hotel stays, we’re right around 3500. That does not include airport and hotel transfers, or excursions. We’ll probably be right about 4500-5k.

We are going to Paris for 12 nights. Will be around $1700 pp including taxes for flight and hotel.

For the local attractions, we have found a deal called the Paris Pass. It provides you admission into the most common attractions (museums, hop on/off tours, etc) as well as unlimited use of the metros and buses. We are asking our families to get us some of the passes for holiday gifts that we can use on our honeymoon. Many large cities have simlar types of things (in the US you can use the City Pass, we did in Boston for a trip and it was great, saved us a ton!)

What will be most expensive is food, as the US $ to EUR exchange rate isn’t so great, but you only live once! I’m hoping we can use some of the gift money we get from the wedding to cover these other expenses so we won’t have to take much out of pocket. Total trip for 12 nights should be around $4,000 for us both.

We’re totally splurging because it will be almost 2 years since our last vacation together. We’re going to africa for just shy of 2 weeks. Our budget it 15k (as much as our destination wedding weekend in Jamaica). We’re doing a 6 day safari in Kenya and 4 days in Capetown, South Africa.

@awagy86: If you are anything like me you are going to love Africa. If you have any safari questions or specific questions about Kenya please ask me! My Fiance and I have both been many times (we help start a non-profit to start a school for a small village in Kenya).

We are going to an all-inclusive resort in St. Lucia for 8 nights.  We splurged and got one of the best rooms at the resort, with airfare its $6000 for us both.  We won’t have to spend any extra except for any massages, or if we do an excursion off the resort.
