We will not be travelling too much this year due to wedding expenses but we’re going to Madrid in a few weeks (we’ve both been several times) for a short trip to celebrate our birthdays and Valentine’s day and to see a Real Madrid match (my birthday present to him).
We might go to a ski resort in Granada before the winter ends but nothing is concrete yet.
We’ll go to Vejer (Chiclana) de la frontera in Andalusia this summer (we go every summer with friends):
We’ll also be going to the French Riviera this September for our honeymoon and to Monte Carlo:
We’ll probably be keeping it low key for the next Christmas but we’re not entirely sure yet, we might go for at least a few days for a city trip and some Christmas shopping.

ah, so jealous! I have always been interested in visiting Belgium as I learn German and French in school. I would love to live in Europe and have the opportunity to take a weekend trip to another country! I know Belgium is especially conveinent for visiting pretty much anywhere in Europe. Hopefully once I’m done with school SO and I can find a way to live in either Germany, Belgium or the UK.

I’m SO jealous of all the fabulous trips you’re taking! Last year we did a LOT of traveling, as we moved to Hong Kong and couldn’t help but tkae advantage of our close proximity to Southeast Asia, so we are chilling a bit with the travel plans this year… Last year, we did Spain (Barcelona, Nerja, Seville), Paris, Sicily, Taipei, Bangkok, Hanoi, Halong Bay in Vietnam, Cebu (Philippines), and Phuket. I HIGHLY recommend Asia to those who have never been, it’s amazing (and relatively cheap once you’re there!)
This year, we are heading to Chiang Mai to go trekking and to visit the Long Neck Tribe:
Then, we are heading to Boracay in the Philippines:
In April, we’re heading to meet up with my in-laws in San Francisco and June we will be visiting home (NYC) for the first time in a year! So so excited for that! Besides these trips, we’ve decided to go to Myanmar (Burma) to visit a friend- because when else in your life will you have a friend living in Burma?! And Japan. I am SO intruiged by the culture and food!

@fvsoccer: Oh wow that looks stunning!
I have about 3 trips lined up so far.
First is my hen weekend (bachelorette) in the Black Forest in Hampshire, UK. 6 of us are renting a luxury chalet complete with all mod cons and a hot tub, doing activities like tree-climbing, and just relaxing and drinking a lot!
Then late May my Maid/Matron of Honor and I are planning a few nights away in Spain:
Then we’re staying at our venue the night of the wedding, as well as the night before and after (so it’ll be kind of a mini-break):
And then finally we’re going on honeymoon to Mexico in October for 17 nights, staying at two different hotels; roof-top suite at the Sian Kaan:
And a swim-out suite at the Excellence Playa Mujeres:
Really cannot wait!

My SO lives in St Thomas, US Virgin Islands, and I visit him every 2 months, staying there for a month each time. So I am headed there next Sunday, and will stay 4 weeks, but then we are headed to Maui for a week and then home to Australia. I am booked to go back in April/May, and then again September, and then November/December. He will be here for July for our wedding.
So considering it’s 25 – 40 hours travelling each way, I am glad that I am a travel bug!!! Not sure if each trip is actually considered a ‘holiday’ though. I do work online so I work over there and he works everyday, but he does live in the middle of this bay where the cruise ships come in… so it’s pretty hard to not consider it a holiday 🙂

well our wedding will be on a cruise ship so we are going to Cozumel, Key West and Grand Cayman

We just went to St Lucia a couple of months ago (for his work) and my avatar photo was taken at the resort beach at sunset 🙂 (Windjammer Landing)

You have an advantage already since you’ve studied French and German. The German speaking community here is very small, but about half of the country speaks French. I am in the Dutch (Flemish) speaking side. I am on level 3 classes now. It’s completely different from English. I wish now that I’d taken French and German in school because a lot of companies are looking for tri-lingual employees! I took Spanish. Fat lot of good that does me here. The only advantage with that is that I understood what people were saying when we went on holiday to Spain this summer!

I am sooooooooo jealous of all of your European Vacations!!!! We plan to do Italy nest year. After a 2 week honeymoon in Hawaii last Sep/Oct we have to have a little bit smaller trips this year.
DH’s parents gave us the gift of an all expenses paid trip with them and BIL/SIL to St. Thomas…but I don’t think we will be able to swing it since DH doesn’t have much vacation time..big WAH to that one!
Otherwise, we are trying to plan a trip to New Orleans:
DH has been wanting to go to Cooperstown to the baseball hall of fame, so I am bringing him there for a weekend as his 30th Bday gift since he doesn’t want a party
and then lastly we might go back to Disney World (where we got engaged!) and to Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure for his love of the Simpsons and my love of Harry Potter 🙂

I think any language you learn is worth something at some point! I plan on learning Spanish eventually as well, but we are more interested in traveling to a few other countries before we go to Spain, so I’ll have to learn those languages first, or at least try! I found a business school that operates in most major cities in a bunch of different European countries, so I’m thinking I may go there for my masters once I finish my bachelors. If we stay in Munich my SO will definitely have to take language courses. He took Spanish, but he doesn’t remember any of it!
I think the problem with Spanish is that a lot of people are learning it because there are a lot of Spanish speaking people moving into the US, but at least what our high school Spanish taught wasn’t really useful for actual conversing. Sure, my SO can talk about the weather, but when a Spanish speaking customer comes into his work he can’t help him find the item he needs or solve any kind of problems.

SO and I are long distance, so we will be meeting in Brisbane, Australia four times this year and I will be going back to New Zealand three times. Hopefully we’ll also be able to fit in a trip or two away – I’m hoping for Japan in July for our anniversary and maybe the islands for Christmas.

Ugh!! I want to go to Hogwarts soooo bad!

Fiance and I are going to San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, and Yosemite in June, then heading down to the Outer banks in September. We’ll hopefully get one more vacation in before the end of the year, most likely a Caribbean cruise.
I’m jealous of all the European vacations! Fiance and I were just talking today about where we want to go for our honeymoon, and we’re thinking about an eastern Mediterranean cruise.
