We’ve decided on Cuba. Well, I say “we”. Other half just said “pick wherever you want, I’m happy as long as there’s a beach and a bar”

Willow90:  I live in London – how long are you coming for? Biggest tip I always give to people is plan what you want to see and group them into logical order so you’re not spending all your time travelling from one end to the other…. London is big, you need to become very familiar with the tube map and where all the sights are on it!

We went to Excellence Playa Mujeres in Mexico for 7 nights/8 days.   We went with the best room which was a two-story rooftop room with private pool and ocean front….also in their preferred area (Excellence Club).  Normally, we stay at the other Excellence resort which is in Riviera Maya and we honestly like that one a little better, but we wanted to try something slightly different for our honeymoon.  Of course we had a great time!   I was going to post a few pics but I can’t seem to find the file on my computer….I’ll post later when I find them!

we’re going for 2 weeks to the Punta Cana Princess in DR.  It’s an adults only, smaller resort with access to the 2 resorts next door for casino etc if we feel like it.  we got the big Deluxe Honeymoon Suite and I can’t wait!!! it was -51 with the windchill here this weekend, so I would really love to leave tomorrow.  Sadly I have another 2 months to wait ๐Ÿ™

Cluelessbride10:  Please report back and let us know how much you loved it! We are thinking of doing that too. Our wedding is next October though. Alaska looks beautiful and we’re not into beaches so much.

We’re going to Iceland! It’s been both of our dream vacation spot since before we were even together (weird, huh?). Getting married in April, but doing our honeymoon in October to increase the odds of seeing the Northern Lights. Yeah, it might not happen, but it’s worth a shot. Hahaha. ๐Ÿ™‚

The British Virgin Islands. There are some beautiful resorts but we are staying in a private villa with access to a secluded beach. It’s supposed to be pretty safe, and it’s fairly remote and quiet as a whole, not a big party place or super touristy – though there are beach shacks that are rowdy at night. You can ferry between islands and they all apparently have their own unique flavour!

arabbel:  we’re thinking BVI or USVI — what made you pick BVI over USVI?

The biggest thing was that it was the quieter, more low key of the two. We really did not want a very “touristy” honeymoon, and it is the less traversed, less commercialized of the two, so that really appealed to us. I like that there aren’t any chain restaurants so you kind of have to try local cuisine, that the way of life is apparently pretty slow paced (though who knows, that might end up driving me crazy, haha), the level of safety, and that there are more islands to jump around between.
