PenguinLove: I’m also in the UK! sending is in Autumn so unless we went quite far afield we wouldn’t be guaranteed sun. Fiance doesn’t like beach holidays anyway so we’re going to NYC- it’s a dream trip for us 🙂

PenguinLove: We are headed to Greece to tour a few of the islands for 16 days. Greece was on both of our “top places to visit” so that’s how we decided.

 • Wedding: March 2014 - Brazil Room

We’re going to Luxor, Egypt at the end of June. Man it’s going to be so hot out there. It all started with me telling my Darling Husband that I wanted to go on a hot air balloon ride for our honeymoon (I was thinking locally in Napa, CA). He thought that was lame. “If you’re going to go on a hot air balloon ride, why not go on one over the pyramids?”. Well, there are no hot air balloon rides over the pyramids due to military air space… but there are hot air balloon rides in Luxor over the Valley of the Kings.

We picked two other activities to do (3 hour camel ride and a day long boat ride on the Nile). I’m super excited about our hotel (the Luxor Hilton) because it looks amazing in the photos and has an infinity pool.

I’m doing tons of research to be culturally sensitive when I’m there (clothing, mannerisms, etc). I think it’s going to be the trip I’ll be talking about for the rest of my life. So excited!

We will be going to France for 3 full weeks right after our wedding. We are getting married on Saturday and leaving Sunday night in an overnight flight! This will probably be one of our last big trips ( SO SAAD!! as I have a HUGE travel bug). We will need to save after that since these trips cost a lot.

Why France? I am in LOVE with France (the culture, language, cuisine – JADORE!) and hes never been there. We decided not to go tropical resorty as we are not the resort kind. Weve been to one and while the beaches were nice there is only so much one can do. We like a place we can explore and better yet in a natury setting where we can get some physical activities in. Hence, we will be staying in the French Alps ( Haute-Savoie) basing ourselves in La Clusaz for 6 full days, then the Dordogne Valley basing ourselves in Sarlat for 7 full days and of course Paris for 3 days. I wouldnt consider Paris since Ive been there twice already but hes never been there and after all it is the city of romance, right? I do personally LOVE Paris though will be seeing some sights again though they are must sees for my Fiancé – the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, etc…

Some of the physical activities we are going to do: hiking, canoeing, horse-back riding, biking and a ton of walking visiting caves and castles.

We also entertained the idea of going on a Hot Air Balloon. But then I have a tendency to read all dangers and risks involved and it turns out we aren`t brave enough to go on one. It would be an amazing experience, but maybe for another time.

We also decided that since we`ve been to trips involving ocean/sea/cities, we would base this trip on a different natural settings. Hence, mountains and countryside/rural. Plus, we get along infinitely better in a natury setting rather than city :).

 • Wedding: December 2014 - 13th ~ TN

PenguinLove: We are getting married in Nashville, TN (we are from SC) and we will spend a few days before the wedding there and get married on a Sat. Then, we have not decided this yet, we have 3 options for 5 day cruises 1) leaves the day after 2) leaves on Mon after and 3) leaves on Wed after.

If we take the first one we will come home on Friday and spend the weekend with our kids at a hotel in Myrtle Beach that has an indoor water park. On Sunday we will have a family get together for Christmas. If we take the 2nd cruise we will get home on Sat & spend the night that we get home in Charleston, SC alone. Go to the family get together on Sunday and then spend a night or two at afore mentioned hotel with the kids, before coming home for Christmas. If we take the third option we will have some time to linger in Nashville for a day or two after the wedding, will probably leave on Mon and head to Charleston, where the cruise leaves from and spend a few nights alone in Charleston. The cruise will bring us home on Mon so we will miss the family get together and will not plan anything with the kids till the following weekend because of Christmas.

 • Wedding: February 2015 - Mount Hermon

PenguinLove: We opted to spend most of our budget on the wedding and go camping for our honeymoon, in Oregon and Washington. Tent camping, not RV. We’ll probably be gone 10 days or so. He’s not a lavish vacation type, I love camping (heck, I even love backpacking), and I wanted to register for camping equipment anyway. Seemed perfect.

When I suggested it, his response was: “You want to go camping for our honeymoon.” Amazed pause. “That’s really hot.”
