It’s the summer time, so almost every weekend we will head to the lake house for the summer! Then at the beginning of September, we are going on our honeymoon to Greece! Athens, Santorini and Crete!

  • Wedding: July 2020 - Ireland

We just got back from Ireland for Easter/wedding planning/meeting my future family. We’re doing Germany in September (Munich) and then back to Ireland for Christmas, next Easter, and my wedding next July! We’re planning to head to Italy for a 2 week honeymoon right after the wedding. And we’ll probably squeeze in some local trips we can drive to for long weekends here and there (Portland, Vancouver BC etc.)

We love travelling. I’ve been to 6 countries in 2019 so far.

I’m heading to Canada on Thursday. Then Den Helder (in the Netherlands) for a long weekend in June.

Im pregnant and due in August so no travelling again until end of September when we go to Italy for 2 weeks. Back to Canada in December for the holidays.

We already have 8 countries planned for the first half of 2020 since baby will be big enough then. Portugal in March, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway in May, Estonia and Latvia in June, and Croatia and Slovenia in July.

sharpshooter :  Wow! I don’t know too many people who would intentionally vacation somewhere that was still recovering from a hurricane. That’s wonderful of you, as I’m sure all of the tourism money helps.

MsPlucky :  The Grotto Bay Beach Resort! You’ll love it if you go. It’s the only resort on the island with an all-inclusive package that you can opt into, which is well worth it. There are also two grottos on site, one that you can swim in and the other where the spa is housed. I’m looking forward to booking our massages!

TheGridMonster :  My husband “wants to travel as much as possible before the baby turns 2.” I told him I wasn’t doing more than one a month with a 16 (17,18,19,20,etc) month old on the plane too.

sharpshooter :  too funny! I LIVE in las vegas! The Derby is on my bucket list! I totally hear you about enjoying your investment in your home, though. I built my house alone (well, I didn’t physically pound the nails into the wood) and have spent oodles of $$$ on tweaking it and furnishing and whatnot. I certainly did not want to leave it after all the hard work and stress I put in. So no major travel for pleasure for several years. I was just enjoying my humble abode. 🙂

MsPlucky :  What does he do to get so much vacation time? I may need a career change lol.

TheGridMonster :  We own our own businesses. Both are self-sustaining without our presence needed every day. I still haven’t returned to work full-time since our little guy was born. I touch base and have a presence since, but I certainly don’t work every day and he usually comes into the office with me. My husband goes in maybe 2-3 days a week just to be “involved,” but we are able to take vacations and not feel like it’ll all fall apart.

Most of what we do now can be done remotely, with managers and supervisors doing the everyday stuff. Can’t complain, even though flying sucks a lot.

MsPlucky :  ahh, I see! I’m much too risk averse to go down that path, but the flexibility is a definite plus!

spilledmilk :  Italy is fantastic.

I got to go to italy 18 years ago when my cousin’s husband was stationed there w/ the army. You will love it if you get to go there next year – there’s a gondola ride that is amazing the pizza is also great along w/ their other food!
