@peachbaby4008:  I’m planning on doing the invitation kits from hobby lobby/michaels for ours. Send people in with coupons and you can get 40% off. There are some pretty plain ones there that you can get for dirt cheap then spice them up with a stamp, ribbon, etc at home if you are crafty. As for STD, I plan on doing a postcard, but no idea how expensive it will be.

I bought clearanced invitation sets from Michaels, I got a total of 120 invitations, envelopes, response cards and envelopes, vellum overlay for invitation and ribbon to tie, thank you cards and envelopes, and seal stickers for the outside for a total of 84 dollars. We printed them ourselves (wasn’t too big of a deal) and I stuffed them and addressed them by hand using a calligraphy marker from Michaels as well (well, 3, they dulled over time) , and I’ve gotten so many compliments on how beautiful they were. Only things we added were photos we got from Shutterfly (their 101 free 5×7 print deal, we paid for some extras), and we got some fancy embossed business cards from Office Depot that we printed our wedding website on along with the places we registered. It was all very cheap and looked beautiful and professional!

Michaels!!! I purchased my invitations there. They have weekly coupons for either 40% or sometimes, if your lucky, 50% off any one item. I only had to get three boxes so I bought two on the same day (different transactions so I could use a coupon each time). The , I went back a second time for the third box. The only thing is that if you dont buy all boxes right away, you need to get the rest of them rather quickly since they could be discontinued or just run out.

Michaels has nice invitation kits, and I got my STD magnets printed with vistaprint, I think I paid 35 dollars for 100 magnets, I designed them myself using photoshop

We picked up a huge lot from Big Lots…all individually packaged.  We added our own cardstock and ribbons and such…we got STD’s, Invitations, Programs, and bridal invitations (which we only got for the extra parts just in case)…we’ll have a ton left over.  Each package was discounted to 1.50$ with 8 full invites/programs etc per package.  The programs have vellum and a tie on ribbon, the invitations and STD’s have ribbon bows, and the STD had a date card but we ended up doing small magnets from Vista Print.   For everything we paid 36$-50$ not really sure exactly how many we got of each but enough to cover our 50-70 person wedding.

One tip, if you go this route…get everything they have.  Once we started going we realized it was going to work but we wanted the other pieces etc…we had to travel around to the nearby stores to find every last matching package.

print your own from templates from Weddingchicks.com’s templates. I also bought petal folds from cardsandpockets.com and used the metalic paper for everything and my total cost per invite is $1.48. You could nix the petal fold, get regular cardtsock and plain envelopes and come out way under $1 per.
