My Fiance bought the e-ring in the UK at Beaverbrooks (he wanted to buy local in case it needed to be resized / maintained).

For the wedding rings we went to Tiffany’s in Toronto and were really not made very welcome, even told off for looking at rings more than 3 months before the wedding. I went again by myself to Tiffany’s on 5th Ave in NY and was treated even worse – the guy behind the counter pretty much threw some rings at me without even really asking what my budget was or what style I wanted and clearly wanted me to leave asap. Ugh, never going back there again!

We ended up buying our rings online from Brilliant Earth and we couldn’t be happier! The customer service was really great and knowing we’re not adding damage to the evironment by sticking to recycled gold and sustainably mined diamonds made the whole deal even better. I can wholeheartedly recommend them!

Tiffany’s however, will never get any of my business. Ever.

We went to Robbins Brothers. We got amazing service. They answered all of our questions. Never felt pressured. My prong broke (I was too rough hanging Christmas lights. Not due to poor quality or anything like that.) and they fixed it super quickly!

Oh and Robbins Brothers is the only store in Dallas that carries Henri Daussi.

Tiffany.  Once H went in there he wouldn’t go anywhere else!  He liked that everything was high quality – they don’t even sell lesser quality diamonds.  Also the service was amazing and very professional.  The craftsmanship is great – no worries about loose prongs or diamonds.  His theory is that is you’re gonna buy something you might as well buy the best from a trusted and reputable brand.  I know a lot of people say you’re just buying the Tiffany name, and that’s what I thought too, but my rings are GORGEOUS.

We ended up buying my e-ring and both our bands there, and H bought me pearl earrings for our first anniversary!

We got both my diamond (A Cut Above, AGS 000 Super Ideal Hearts and Arrows Diamond) and setting (designer Vatche) from Whiteflash.com.

Seriously epic diamonds. I get an unreasonable amount of compliments daily from random people… love it!

Kays, Zales and Jareds were not on our radar. We did look at Shane Co. and while I thought I had found a ring there we eventually took back our deposit.

My DH had my e-ring and wedding bands made at French Jewelery in the Diamond Mart/Gift Center in San Francisco. It was the best decision we made. We saved quite a bit of money despite purchasing very high quality diamonds. We were avaible to avoid the ridiculous mark ups that the chain stores are known for. Our insurance policy protects the ring from any damage, theft and loss so we are covered regardless.

Tiffany.  It was a fair price for what we wanted (a smallish ExExEx diamond in a platinum solitaire) and comparably priced with Whiteflash.  Amazing service and we like that there is a physical store we can walk into any time for service, with a very established business history.  And the craftmanship is 100% perfect.  I have gone over my ring with my loupe many times, every prong is perfect (no little dings, no sign of resizing, no teeny little lumpy areas, nothing).

Mr. Xray originally purchased my Ering from what was supposed to be a very reputable big chain jeweler…. well didnt end well after 6 months of back and forth and sending my ring to and from NY due to issues and damages that had incured along the way we had to return for a full refund (tho at first they did not want to as all the $$$ sending it back to a designer to fix there own mistakes had cost them we had to threaten leagal action and that got them to whistle a different tune)

That was when we went to the store my dad bought my moms 25 years ago and it was amazing, kind, helpful, made everything 110% better. They had a jeweler in store who did custom work no need to ever outsource it to NY again!!! and 5 weeks later we had our ring!!! It was beautiful even better than I had ever imagined!!! wouldnt have done it any other way and highly reccomend to any one.

My original E ring (and wedding bands)

and Here is my pride and joy my beauty!!!!

Still Undecieded on if we will do a wedding band as I love my ering so much i just dont know if I really wanna add anything more!!!

My engagement ring is from Fay Cullen 3 years ago, our wedding bands are from Mondial Neuman. We had absolutely no clue about jewelery and just walked into the first shop in Sydney QVB. Mr Neuman (a delightful elderly gentleman who own the shop with his family) helped us.

A new eternity ring from Blue Nile is sitting at Fed Ex a few hundred km away. I should receive it tomorrow – hate the wait!

My ering came from Kays, which was in no part my decision. Fiance picked ring all by himself with no help from me! Kays is the most convinient place to us and Fiance is not one to shop around he just likes to get it and get done with it! Typical man I guess! They have alot of sales too, which is always nice! With having to go there to get it sized and inspected to keep up with warranty my experiences haven’t been that great! I don’t like the fact that they have to send your jewelery off and you have to wait so long! They actually misplaced my ring at one point when it had returned back from being sized. They handed me a 1/2ct. instead of my ring which is a 1ct. Thankfully it was just a mix up and I noticed! But all around the customer service is just lacking. But that’s just the store where I live, I know it has a lot to do with the people working there. I like all the jewelry I’ve received from there but don’t really look into diamond color and all that bc I’ve never been the one to pick any of it out! lol I just know they’re real and sparkly, thats all the really matters to me! I don’t think there selection is that great though as I am looking for a wedding band right now and can’t seem to find one that matches good! I think Jared’s has about the same selection as Kay’s too from what I’ve seen online! Hope that helps!!!

We got my ring from Helzberg, and the whole experience was great: they were one of the few jewlery stores that did not try to pressure me into a bigger center stone or a more expensive setting.

Because I guess I am spoiled, Fiance is getting me a second ring so I can change things up (I am big on matching my jewlery to my outfit lol). This time we are ordering it off etsy. Not going to lie, I am a little nervous about ordering something this expensive offline, and without the lifetime warranty that we have with Helzberg. I guess we will see how it goes, though…

We went Krikawa. Every ring is custom, and their customer service is unbelievable.

My Fiance got my ring at Jared because he went to many local and chain stores and had terrible customer service experiences. Unfortunately, there are only a few local jewelers in our town and they do not have good reviews on yelp.

When he went to Jared, the sales rep was the first one to actually sit him down and explain the the four c’s and what he was actually purchasing. He told him his budget and the guy never once tried to upsale him to a more expensive, out-of-range ring. He also lucked out and got a great deal because of a promotion they were running.

I looked up “comparable” rings to mine on local stores and other chain stores sites and the price he paid is right on par. So while price markups may/do occur, he was lucky to not have it happen to him.

Because of a customer appreciation event, we went back to Jared’s and purchased both of our wedding bands. I got a 14k, 1/2 carat, channel set diamond band for only $299 (after using our rewards bucks)! I could not find a comparable band like that anywhere for that price from a reputable dealer. He got a white gold band with striations for $300 (after rewards bucks) and that was a great deal as well.

Overall, we have very much enjoyed our experience with Jareds. Of course there are negative comments on facebook and other sites, every company (especially larger ones) will have negative commenters….also people with negative feedback are far more likely to post things than those with positive experiences.

I would recommend checking out a variety of places and see what you think for yourself and your budget.
