My main stone is from Zales (princess Celebration (102) cut diamond) and I put it in a different setting…also from Zales and my wedding band came from Wickersham jewelry (online). We wanted a very specific quality and a unique look and so a little cutomization had to be done. lol. I waited till we were able to get 20% off…which is very rare to get a celebration diamond on sale.

my first ring was from a small jewelry store in the middle eastern country where we got engaged (as is DFs ring). My “upgraded” ring is from etsy.com. We got a great deal on a vintage, old cut stone from an estate seller on there and will have it set in a custom setting by another etsy goldsmith (still deciding on the exact design. lol). I’m in love with etsy! You can get amazing quality and detailing for less money in comparison to many large retailers.

@MRSsrm85:  What is the process for going there? Do you need an appt? I thought about checking them out when the time comes, but a) not sure I wanna go diamond, and b) living more in the metro Raleigh area, it’s not always convenient to get to Crabtree with planning because our schedules change so much. Would you say – for diamond buying – that they have good deals, variety, etc worth checking out? Even if an appt is needed? Also, do they do any custom work if wanted (e.g., if I wanted a unique gemstone added to a ring, can/do they do that as well?) thanks for any help you can provide … I have been curious about them for awhile.

@JoCoJenn:  No appointments necessary.  I think they were really great when it came to deals, but we didn’t get a diamond so I am not as clear with the deals/process. When I go in during a weekday evening, there are not that many customers and plenty of sales people. Yes to gemstone mounting. My ring is a ruby in a engagement ring setting. They actually flew in 4 rubies from NYC for my fiance to pick. I completely understand about not wanting to go to Crabtree. That area is normally so congested!

@JoCoJenn: Oh I believe their semiannual 20% off everything sale is coming up too. It is a madhouse duringthat sale but worth the savings.

@MRSsrm85:  Thanks much. Maybe next time I am up there with my g/fs, we will check them out. I don’t wanna drag b/f in there until he brings it up.

besides I alost always need a Xanax when I go to Crabtree because of how much a zoo it can be, especially parking.i

My engagement ring came from Jared; his engagement ring came from Amazon (Benchmark brand). Both of our bands came from designbands.com.

@JoCoJenn:  I completely understand. When I feel like going,  I got at 10 AM on a Saturday or right after work. It is always crazy though.

taliar93:  Just wondering, did you lose any stones in your e-ring from Sonia Jewels? Also did you try cleaning your ring often to get rid of the cloudiness? I really have my eyes set on a ring they have and was wondering..Thank you!
