@TwoStatesBride:  This is who I am leaning towards the most right now. I love the look of some of their albums and they seem to have the best quality from what I’ve seen so far. If you hear any reviews, I’d love to hear them too!

I used shutterfly for my album and I love it! I did it all by myself and it took my a very long time to put together. I think a shutterfly photo album can be just as good as anyone elses.

I used MyPublisher and I love my album.  Had I gone with the photographer, it would only have included a few photos.  Since I could add as many pages as I wanted, I could use all my favorite photos.  Maybe a 70 page album is too long, but I love it!

One thing I learned only when making extra albums for the moms is that if you pass up on the fancy paper/layflat pages, you’ll have an option at the end for those options at half price.

@FoolsintheRain:  I sent you a pm, it’s a link to my wedding album, not necessarily formatting.

One thing I forgot to mention was that I big reason I chose Artisan State is that they have the flush mount albums with portrait orientation. Since I wanted full size pages and most of our bride and groom photos are portrait, it was an important feature that they offered.

I’m a few weeks late but I have a question for you two that used Artisan State.

I was looking at making one of their albums (an 8×11 landscape book) to give to my parents.  Did you run across any problems with the photos being enlarged more than the 20% that they recommend?

I have 3 photos over 20-30% (they are around 40-50% enlarged) and they are in the layout where the picture spans the entire 2 page spread (like on the cover).  I emailed them asking them if there was any way to check if they would print okay but they told me to pick a different album size.

I have a hard time believing pictures from a high end 22+ megapixel DSLR would print grainy photos at this size but they are automatically ‘zoomed in’ (for lack of a better word) and it’s only printing a section of the picture at that size.  So I can tell it’s only printing about a third of the actual photo at the 8×22 size (full spread).

Did either of you get these warnings and ignore them?

@kes18:  Yep! I got that warning for my two full page spreads on a landscape 11 x 14 and they look totally fine to me. They were also super high quality from our photographer’s camera so I figured it should be fine, and it was.

@Pinkmoon:  Thanks!  Do you remember how much they were enlarged?  They told me 20-30% was probably ok but at 50% they recommended a different size.  Mine are around 50% enlarged.  I really like the 8×11 landscape size though and don’t like the 8″ square one quite as much.  I just don’t understand how pictures from that high-end of camera could come out grainy.

@kes18:  I think they were both around 30%. They probably make those recommendations just in case someone is really picky about quality, but I bet it’s generally fine. Maybe not quite as crisp as the other pages, but at 22MP you should just about be able to make a billboard!

@Pinkmoon:  Thanks for the info! I’m surprised it would even be an issue with how ridiculously high the megapixels are these days.

Just commenting to follow.  I’ll be getting full printing rights to our engagement photos and wedding photos so I need album recommendations, too!  Smile

@kes18: if you haven’t already ordered your book, use coupon code JAVIER30 At the checkout, it gets you 30%off! I am saving $150 on my purchases (1 wedding album, 2 parent books, and 3 little black books for $370 including tax and shipping!) I started making the first 3 pages of an album (which took me forever!) but had about 115 photos total. I had no patience to complete the whole thing so before I went to bed I submitted a request for their free design services. When I woke up the next day it was done! I don’t know who worked on it overnight, but they did an awesome job. I just went through and tweaked a few things, swapped a few of the pics or rearranged the pages but it saved so much time and they made it look really pretty.

@Pink Asawa:  That’s awesome, thanks!  How much do they charge for the design service?
