We just got married last Friday (yay!), and after opening gifts/cards the last couple of nights… Thank You cards are on my mind. My goal is to get them all out by Christmas, so we have one less thing to worry about around the holidays.
My only question is… where should I get them?
I know I can just go buy blank cards anywhere, but had thought about putting a picture on them so people would get that. However, if I aim around the holidays, I also plan on sending out some holiday cards to close friends and family. Would that seem too much to send a thank you and a card? Or could I combine them somehow?
I guess my main question turned into multiple… sorry about that!

We ordered our cards from Vistaprint in the same theme/colors as our wedding invitations. A lot of invitation suites I found online had matching thank-you cards for sale. We did not want to wait on photos because our photographer takes up to 8 weeks to deliver photos after the wedding. Ours are pretty simple and say “Thank you from Mr. and Mrs. [new last name]” on the front.
I also wouldn’t combine holiday cards and thank you cards. It’s not too much to send both around the same time because they are being sent for completely different purposes.

We ordered our cards from Minted and we didn’t use photos because I didn’t want to wait to write them. I actually wrote thank yous as the gifts arrived as we had a lot come before the wedding.
We should get our pictures back soon, and we’re going to use one of those on a holiday card!
I think it’d be best to do them seperate.

Kacie209: If you wait on photos, you might not have a chance to send them out by Christmas. (Likely, but not definite, depending on your photographer’s timeline).
I would send separate cards. We just used blank Thank You cards from the store that had our colors, and then included photos in our Christmas cards. That worked well because we could include a photo that meant a lot to the person instead of just one of us (i.e., photo of extended family for my grandmother, photo of baby to her mother, etc.)

bleusteel: CaroBee: LadyBear: Thanks for the input!
I do see how they are different now, and for the number of holiday cards we send… it won’t make TOO much of a difference.
Plus, I see that there is a Groupon on VistaPrint at the moment ($27 for $70 worth of product), and that’s a great deal… that is where we got our invites from. Most people just throw them away, and spending less than $1 on a Thank You card is fine by me. I know Darling Husband doesn’t care.

Kacie209: I’ll share because I’m super-proud of the crazy-cheap thank you card deal I just got for my baby shower thank you cards. Instead of getting a folded card, which were around a buck a piece, I ordered postcards from Vistaprint’s marketing department, $7.50 for 50 cards (I paid a little extra for the recycled matte paper). You can design them or use your own photo for the front and choose what you want to say on the other side. I ordered envelopes in a coordinating color from Amazon, it saved a ton of money. Kacie209: It’s perfectly acceptable to ask your photographer for 1-5 suitable ‘sneak peek photos’ for thank you pictures and asking for delivery around 2-4 weeks after the wedding. Just talk to your photographer about it. If you want to include photos with your cards that would be the best way of doing it.

I got my shower thank yous from Papyrus. Our wedding thank yous matched our invitations that we ordered fro Minted. They weren’t photo cards because I wanted to get them out ASAP and didn’t want to wait a month for our photographer to get us the disc and then wait again to have the cards printed.

I just picked up blank cards from Target. Simple on the front and blank inside. I had my shower on Sunday and had them personalized and in the mail on Monday night. I know if I waited I’d never get them done.

Honestly, I got mine at Office Depot and then used a monogram embosser to make them a little nicer. I figured it was more important to get them out than to do fancy cards. Though I really, really wanted to do Thank You cards with a picture on them! I was just worried that if I waited for our pictures to come, then select one, then wait for the order to come in, I would end up taking forever to write them! And my mom is super naggy about Thank You cards, haha!
So basic cards = getting them done faster = no worry about hearing my mom nag me every time we went out to lunch lol!

Thanks for ths suggestions everyone!
I ended up ordering them from Vistaprint, as they had a sale and I had just purchased a great Groupon deal. I got 150 cards for $30, which I think was a good deal. They’re just simple, with the first letters our names in a heart with an arrow, says Thank You and has our name underneath.
Our photographer does some sneak peek photos, but I would like to get started on them ASAP – we have a lot! Darling Husband is out of town next weekend for hunting, so I plan on getting through a lot of them then when they arrive in the mail next week. We’ll still do a photo Holiday card for close friends and family, plus I know both of our parents will use the family wedding photos in their Holiday cards, so everyone will see a picture at some point.
I bought my shower Thank You cards from Michaels, but wanted something different and it’s nice that it has our names on it. I’ mOK with it not having a photo, just to get them done and not worry about them before Christmas – since that is my goal.

Kacie209: I got married the 2nd week of September and thankfully my photographer wasvery prompt on getting me my wedding pictures 4 weeks after the wedding. I was able to order my custom thank you cards and have all 120 handwritten and mailed by the 2month mark.
I ordered these thank you cards.I never saw anything like them and I liked I could put more than one picture on them

Kacie209: I got mine at Target. They say ‘Thank You from the new Mr and Mrs’ on the front and are blank inside. I think they are cute. I like hand written notes better. i’m ashamed to say I just started writing mine out. My wedding was 3 months ago. The Target ones are cute and cheap.

Sunshineliz22: I got the same ones from Target. I love them! I am working on mine now, a couple a day and they’ll be done in no time.

I bought them from Joanns. They were cheap and simple, and I could get them out fast. I thought about putting a wedding photo on them, but in the end I thought it was better to promptly thank my guests, rather than to wait for my photographer to give me my wedding photos to start to put them together. My photographer sent the link to my wedding photos to my wedding guests, so anyone who cared about them looked at them anyways. I had a friend do that, and it was 5 months until I got a thank you, and I found it to be quite rude, and others at her wedding were talking about it. If you are able to get a pictured one out promptly, then go for it if you would like. I would probably avoid sending 2 picture cards at the same time.
