We’re going to Excellence Playa Mujeres. Adults only, all inclusive. Ours is $4,000 even for flights and a two story suite with our own private private pool! I’m so excited. We could have easily went for under $3k but wanted the upgraded rooms.

@MrsP0801:  That’s a good amount to spend! You can go some really nice places for $10,000! I’d suggest maybe St. Lucia or Barbadoes.

@MrsP0801:  We did a 7-day cruise followed by 3 days hanging out in Puerto Rico, and it cost us about 4k!

@MrsP0801:  ours was pretty non-traditional, but we went to Gettysburg!  It’s such an awesome little town, our room was to die for and it was sooo relaxing.  We spent $3,000 for the week for both of us and had a ton of fun  ๐Ÿ™‚

We’re going to Hawaii.  6 days, 5 nights, $2100 for flights and hotel.  I’m thinking food, souvenirs and outings aren’t going to cost anywhere near $8k.

Best bet is to not look up honeymoon, but instead just book a regular trip.

@snd485:  The hotels there are very reasonable.  Anywhere from 80-300 for downtown Madrid.  The exchange rate was brutal but we weren’t going to fancy places for meals.  I work for an airline so that helped with the price of the flight.

We’re taking a 7 day cruise on Norwegian Cruise Lines from New York to Florida and the Bahamas and it was a little over $2000 with the trip insurance included.

We went to a cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains for a few days.  It was absolutely amazing and very low budget!  (The cabin that we stayed in happened to belong to my grandfather, so it was actually free, aside from food, but there are lots of affordable rental options.) We went hiking, had amazing meals at local restaurants, went to a folk music center…Being out in the woods may not be your thing.  But if it is, you could probably do a week for under $1000. ๐Ÿ™‚

Wow, 10k for 7 nights can get you just about anywhere depending on what you’re looking for.  This isn’t “typical” honeymoon, but we just got back from 18 days in Iceland and it was 6k.  Granted we do budget travel, but you can have a nice fancy trip there for 10k.  We went to Ireland early in the year for 10 days for 3k.  Once again, more on the budget side, but it can definitely be a more romantic fancy stay.  Last year we went to Italy and Switzerland, 21 day trip for 9k.  (budget stays of course, and by budget, I mean, good central location, private bathroom, good reviews, but definitely not fancy.)

Our honeymoon was actually beachy ‘typical’, 10 days in St John for about 3k.  We got an awesome deal on the Westin and bought one flight with miles so that helped with the costs.

I booked a package through SeaWorld Orlando with add-ons like Discovery Cove and beluga whale interactions, etc for less than $4,000 for 10 days.  We were able to book amazing inclusive packages and saved a ton of money that way.  We have unlimited admission for the entire trip to SeaWorld, Busch Gardens Tampa and Aquatica, free breakfast every day, etc.  Not personally doing anything Disney, but they have equally amazingly priced packages ๐Ÿ™‚

We’re going to NYC for a week. In December. (Yes I know we are nuts!)
Neither of us wanted cocktails-on-the-beach sort of feel, so we went the other direction.
Staying in a nice (but not THE nicest) room in a hotel overlooking the skyline. Flying regular class (got AMAZING deal on the airfare) so air+hotel for both of us roundtrip from Seattle is under 2k. We will easily keep other expenses below 8k ๐Ÿ˜‰ (Hoping under 3k!)
I just sent a list of groupons for NYC that I want to use, to my better half.
Discounts, discounts, discounts. That’s how I am in every day life, though.

@MrsP0801:  We went on a cruise, but our budget was much less than yours. I suggest checking out the Groupon deals… they often have a bunch of trips, many are all inclusive but don’t include airfare. With your budget, you would be able to book something really nice!

@MrsP0801:  We went to Isla Mujeres, Mexico and stayed at Privilege Aluxes for 7 nights for about $4,000, including flights. We loved that it was super close to Cancun (so convenient) but on it’s own tiny 5 mile long island with super yummy food & a laid back vibe. The resort was also all-inclusive so we only paid for the times we left hotel property to eat/drink & even then it was pretty cheap (I’m talking $20 US for 2 cubano sandwiches, 2 sides, an app, and 2 beers).

We LOVED every minute of it! The resort is not adults-only but they do not offer anything for children to do so there weren’t many there, maybe 2 during our whole stay, and they were very well-behaved! We ended up staying in the Cancun hotel zone for a night after our flight back was cancelled & hated it. It felt like the Vegas strip or something & we felt so much safer wandering the streets of our little island at midnight than there!
