I’m getting married in early May and trying to figure out where to honeymoon. We’re on a TIGHT budget (the honeymoon needs to cost less than $1,000), and it won’t be long, maybe 4 or 5 nights. We’re getting married in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Any ideas for inexpensive but great honeymoons? Where did you go, and how was it?

We had a really, really cheap honeymoon, but when we thought we had a little more spending money we were looking at Vegas. We were also looking at renting a cabin in the Smokey Mountains. We actually ended up at a bed and breakfast, which was pretty fun. You could always pick your favorite spot and get a room for a week there.

We went Seattle, WA and had a blast! It wasn’t that expensive either

Fiance and I went on an 8 day cruise to the Western Caribbean for $419/person in May 2011. If you choose a shorter cruise, it would be significantly less!

We went to California, but it was very expensive, so I wouldn’t recommend that!
DH is from Charleston, SC, and whenever we vacation down there, we spend almost nothing. There is so much to do, from historic landmarks and attractions to shopping, dining, etc. I would check it out if I were you! It’s really beautiful there in May/June, as well.
Groupon also has a new portion of their website called Groupon Getaways. You can pay up to 75% off trips, some all-inclusive, others just for hotels. It’s worth checking out!

Does anyone in your family own a timeshare they can lend you? Mr C and I are saving a lot of money by using his parents timeshare. Theirs lets you stay at places all over the country and around the world too. We’re doing a week in Vegas and a week in NYC, however it wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for the timeshare. And they’re both really nice places.

These are all great ideas! I’ll have to look in to those…and find someone with a time share haha. Thanks for sharing!
Anyone else have a great but inexpensive honeymoon?

We honeymooned in tahiti/moorea/bora bora…. definitely had to save up for it! I’d second the PP who said Vegas… there are some amazing restaurants and spas… or do a bed and breakfast. Also scour Groupon Getaways. They offer great deals every Tuesday on resorts/hotels all over the country with a few international locations.

I’m getting married around the same time as you (and same location!) and I’ve had many people suggest Yellowstone. That time of year is also great for Southern Utah (Zion, Bryce), and you could make your way down to Vegas. Or Disneylad is only 16 hours away!
