Mr TTR and I are semi-retired, so we can swing more time off than some couples younger of us.

We went on a 5 Week long adventure… combining our Christmas Holidays and Annual Winter Getaway into one Pre-Wedding & Honeymoon Event.

It was sort of divided up into 5 seperate weeks and various points of focus…

1 Week in South Carolina (Golfing, Shopping & Relaxing) – 1 Week in the Mississippi Delta between Memphis & New Orleans (American Music – including The Blues, Country, Memphis Music, Jazz and Zydeco) – 1 Week in Florida (Sunshine) including time in The Keys where we were married – and then 1 Week on a Caribbean Cruise (Great Food & Wine, Pampering, Sightseeing & Exploring NEW and Favourite Destinations)

Myrtle Beach & The Carolinas were fabulous… as it always is… no matter what time of year (one of our fave places to vacation)

Alabama – Tennessee – and Arkansas were a lot of new Geography for us.

Memphis was a real surprise… beyond the fact that it was COLD and had 5 inches of snow the night before we arrived !!  But I really enjoyed this city, and the people I met, and the places I visited.

Mississippi Delta Blues Trail – Mississippi was a real eye-opener… I was stunned at how poor this state is… but loved the people I met and the resiliance of the locals.  There is a real movement to turn Mississippi around by attracting Tourists to the state to explore its wealth of history & culture (Country Music Trail – Blues Trail – Historical Markers – and the Freedom / Civil Rights Movement Trail)

And oh ya… the music was terrific !!  I am certainly a bigger Blues fan than I was when I left home.

New Orleans – Loved this city also.  Did a lot of sightseeing and learned a lot of history.  Again the resiliance of the NOLA people is AWESOME.  Altho I do truly believe that the US Government has let them down / done wrong by them Post Katrina

The Gulf Coast – Discovered some new places… including the shoreline of Mississippi & Alabama (truly a secret gem).

Florida – What can I say, Florida is always a great vacation destination.  The weather was terrific (finally got out of the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s we’d been plagued with elsewhere) and into the 70s and 80s.  We once again loved our trek across the Original Aligator Alley (Hwy 41)… and the Overseas Hwy down into The Keys.  The Keys did not disappoint… they never do.  And our Wedding in Key West was awesome.  Our Hotel over the Straits of Florida left me speachless !!  A perfect 3 Days of Honeymooning !!

San Juan – Much better than my last visit there… so much so, that we will be back again in the future.

Our Caribbean Cruise with Celebrity… Breathtakingly gorgeous… the ship, the islands, every single thing was visually stunning.  Pampering to the N-th degree.  In one word ROMANTIC.

The Comedy in our trip was certainly the weather… Mother Nature messed with our heads (and plans) every chance she got.  Week One in Myrtle Beach was a teaser… high 60s and low 70s… but after that things plummeted… I wore my CANADIAN Winter Coat throughout Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisana… I never took it off until we got into Florida.  Cruel Joke.

Mind you one could not have wished for better weather for either Florida or the Caribbean.

The Drama… Mr TTR was a tad accident prone on this trip.  It seemed everytime we turned around there was something going on with him (such as his stubbing his toe on our HUGE Plantation Style Bed in our Wedding Suite the morning of our Wedding)

The Good… Well our Wedding was fabulous… maybe not 100% as we planned it originally (a few things did go off the rails… like the Officiant that “disappeared” into thin air a few days before our Wedding).  But overall, the actual Ceremony exceeded our original vision that we first came up with back in April when Mr TTR proposed.  And our Honeymoon was FANTASTIC.  We had several little things that happened unexpectedly that made it even more special… most of them provided by others… such as getting an incredible seat with a view at our chosen Wedding Night Restaurant, Complimentary Room Upgrades, Amazing Service by our Ship Attendants, and some complimentary drinks, souvenirs etc from others who were happy to hear we were Honeymooners.  LOTS of great memories were made for sure.

I even think God got in on the act… as there was magnificent Sunrises and Sunsets for us on sooo many occasions (and I pics of them… all different from one another)

Here is the Sunrise from our Wedding Day…

    And the Sunset too…

How can anyone not see this majesty of nature, and not be in LOVE ???

@Odess:  Oooh, do you have any pics of your trip?

We went road tripped to the Canadian Rockies for our honeymoon (we got married while ON the trip in fact).  We love mountains and have always wanted to see this place.  We did have a Destination Wedding in Grand Teton NP, so with that one cancelled, we had to go bigger for mountains.

    It was all romance!

I hope to make a post soon.
