Darling Husband and I met online, on Plenty of Fish. I actually messaged him (he was at the bottom of my last page of matches). At the time, Darling Husband had left his POF account open and his roommate was using his laptop when my message popped up. His roommate read the message and my profile before calling Darling Husband into the room to show him. His roommate said to him ‘She’s perfect for you. If you don’t message her back, I’m going to punch you,’ haha. So, he did and we met a week later and have been together ever since. We got married in April and, though we have our downs, we’re so happy together and neither of us would change anything for the world. 🙂

- Wedding: November 2013 - St. Augustine Beach, FL
How did you meet your hubby #1? He was the IT tech at the law firm I worked at in college.
How long have you been married? We were married for right at 3 years.
Are you happy? Nope we weren’t. I was young and stupid and had no idea what love was much less who my husband was. We got divorced a few weeks after our 3rd anniversary.
How did you meet your hubby #2? In bar through mutual friends.
How long have you been married? We’re getting married in November but we’re celebrating our 3rd dating anniversary this week.
Are you happy? Yes, but I am much more rational about love and marriage. I learned a lot from my first marriage, about myself, love, and what you should know about your partner.

We met 10 years ago at a local BBQ festival in a nearby town and dated briefly. Fast forward 9 years, we reunited and have been married a whopping 35 days now and are incredibly happy.

@mzieglar: I met my FH almost 10 years ago when my sister went looking for change for the washing machine – he was friends with guys in my building. We knew each other for a year, hung out in the same group although never really hung out together or got to know each other. I actually dated a couple of his friends. Then the next year when we all came back to school our friends had coupled off and the group got smaller and we were sort of forced to spend more time with each other and realized that we had tons in common and really liked each other. If you had told me 10 years ago, when we met, that I would be marrying this man I would have told you you were insane. Now I couldn’t be happier and could not possibly imagine spending my life with anyone else.

I met my Fiance at a bar hopping event my cousin set up so that I could meet some friends in my new home (moved 1/2 way across the country) a month after moving here. I never thought I’d meet one of best friends and future husband that night but here I am almost three years later!
This is extremely cheesy but I cannot remember a time in my life where I have been as happy as I am with Fiance. He makes my life exponentially better 😉

I thought this would be a much more common answer, but Darling Husband and I met in college. He lived on the floor below mine and we hung out in the same group of friends, but we weren’t really friends ourselves. It was very awkward whenever we were left alone together haha. Then thanks to some late night vodka he asked me on a date, and 3 years later we’re married!

@chic_and_fabulous: I love this story!
we met at university housing, we were randomly assigned to the same apartment. if we hadn’t lived in the same apartment, I’m not sure that we would ever have met (that’s just given me an idea for a spinoff thread….)
one of my favourite ‘how we met’ stories is of two people I met while traveling, one American and one Australian, who met through the country radio stations they worked for. The girl is from Texas and was looking online for different radio stations to listen to, and found the station that the guy, from rural Australia, did a show on. she liked it and emailed the station saying ‘Hello from the US, love your work! PS, ______ has a really sexy voice! love his show!’. His friends saw it and said “DUDE. find that girl and marry her.” long story short, that’s exactly what he did!

@mzieglar: I met mine at a party thrown by a guy I’d never met and wouldn’t even had gone if I hadn’t been so bored that night. We went on an emotional rollercoaster from that night on, mostly because he wasn’t looking for a relationship and thought he didn’t want one, until he realized he was going to lose me and that made him miserable. Now he “can’t live without me”. 🙂 So you really never know when or where it’s gonna happen.

I met my Boyfriend or Best Friend at a bar–we were there to celebrate a mutual friend’s birthday. We’ve been going out for a couple of years now.
@Holly77: Wow, that’s incredible! Congrats on being married for 15 years.
