There are only 3 people in our lives who know the truth about how we met. It is so embarrassing. When I worked at my last office 5 years ago I would get my work done really fast and was BORED to death. So I started reading books on the computer mainly the Harry Potter books. I ended up on a HP related site. I just started chatting with him one day. I am not someone you would ever think in a million years was a HP geek so I have been hesitant to tell anyone how we meet. I tell people we met online. They assume it was a dating site. I used to say that if work found out how much time I spent on the HP site talking to him it would be more embarrassing than them finding porn on my computer lol.

When my single friends complain about the douchbags they meet every weekend I tell them they need to try one of the following to meet a “good” guy –
- join a sports league like a beach volleyball team
- join a book club
- go to a wine tasting
- go jogging on the lake shore
- peruse men at the grocery store
- ask your friends to introduce you to their friends
- take a class in something – fencing, poker, painting, etc
I say all this despite the fact that my Fiance and I are the total cliche. We met at a bar. On New Year’s Eve. 🙂

My soon to be husband and I met playing soft ball. We both played on different teams and we played against eachother for a couple years until I was asked to sub for his team a few times. We were hanging out with the same crowd and were friends but not close or anything.
One day I ended up needing a new place and he was looking for a renter. So I moved in. We managed to be roomates for a good month but then we started doing lots of things together like cooking and watching tv. He even put up with my girly shows! So he asked a few of us to go to a ball tournament with him and the only person who could go was me. We ended up hanging out all weekend and eventually getting pretty hammered and we spent the night together. No we didn’t go to “bed” together we just slept. Then after that we went through the awkward stage of moving from room mate to girlfriend.
The funniest part is we both really suck at softball and neither of us play anymore.
and we lived happily ever after!!! lol.

Oh, we met at church of all places. It was a perfect match being Christian as we are. We were friends for about 3 years before getting married.

I met my husband to be online, plenty of fish to be exact. Best thing I could have ever done. Swore I would never do online dating but if I wouldnt have put myself out there I wouldnt have met the love of my life and my very best friend.

I met my FH at a martial arts class. We kicked the crap out of each other for years. Like Mr & Mrs Smith, without the Brangelina.

@Anxiouspeanut: Hah, I did PoF at one point! I went on some strange dates, but also some fun ones. There were some nice guys out there (just not the right ones for me).

We met at work… We worked together at an Internet Media company in Los Angeles and the moment I saw him when he came in to interview, I thought he was very handsome. He will tell you that he does not remember seeing me that day but he does remember me coming into the HR office on his first day and taking his breathe away…..
We caught glances of each other everyday and he invited me and other co-workers out for Happy Hour and when I got to the bar, we were the only people there. We laughed and talked and I knew that night that he was and is a special man. We became fast friends, lunch buddies and eventually began our courtship.

My husband and I both grew up in Brooklyn, went to jhs and hs at the same school/same year but never met until years later at church of all places.
At the time, I was bracing myself to be single and was not expecting such a wonderful man to come into my life. A big aspect of this is the “unexpected”…you never know when or where you might meet him. I am sure someone is out there for you…perhaps each of you is being prepared for one another.
I do have many friends who have met through online dating sites. The pool is increased dramatically with that!
Wishing you the best!

@Angelz_love: Aww I love your story!!!
I met my Fiance in 7th grade, too… We were friends throughout high school and then later lost touch. We found each other online and reconnected, and he asked me out to dinner maybe 2 weeks later. I was 28 when we started dating, almost 29 when we got engaged and will be 30 at our wedding next week 🙂

We met on a dating website called Oasis Active, both of us were about to delete our accounts after having both been on there for about 6 months … Him because he didn’t think it would work as “no one seemed to be his type” and me because I only seemed to attract weirdos with odd fetishes haha entertaining to chat to but not something I was in to.
Anyway long story short, we linked, we met, I ummed and aaahed for a few dates and then realised on the 3rd I actually liked this guy. 6 months later we moved in together. 3 months after that we were engaged. And now we are about to celebrate our 1st anniversary of our first date… Insane I know, but we ain’t getting any younger and we know we want to be together, have kids the whole she-bang! So figured let’s do it 😀 By The Way best decision of my life to try online dating hahaha
Sorry it was long 🙂
