I met my fiance through a classmate who happened to be his cousin. It’s weird because I had not spoken to this classmate since elementary school, but happened to run back into her on Facebook. She thought that the two of us should meet, we were both open to it, and the rest is history.
I was 31 when we met and he was 35. We’ll be 33 and 37 when we marry..so NO not all good men are taken by 30!!

I met my husband through a family friend who happened to be a busdriver in Queens and drove both of us to different places on different days. We didn’t realise we lived 5 minutes from each other but never met. ONe day this busdriver, Ed, saw me on his bus and began telling me about my husband, how he was looking to settle down with a nice girl, he is an italian fireman(which rang bells in my head) he was two years older than i am(another great), came from a good family. Little did i know Ed was telling my husband about ME, how I’m from a good family, church-going, from Trinidad(which my husband loved) etc. Two weeks later Ed gave me his number and I called him… Three days later we decided to meet up for dinner, he came to my house with a rose, met my mom and brother who immediately adored him. I honestly wasn’t crazy about him at first, but he turned out to be such a gentleman and very traditional. Doesn’t kiss on the first, second or third date etc…..
Anyway it was a blind date and here we are 5 years later, just celebrated our second wedding anniversary. And it all happened when I STOPPED SEARCHING!!! He basically fell into my hands, thank God!

I met my FH at a football game when I was 32! He was working, and I was with a bunch of my male friends. He approached me and we chatted for a while. I found out later, he was dating someone else, and he ended up ending it with her..and we finally went on our first date a month later! We are celebrating our 5 year anniversary in February, and finally tying the knot in October!!

5 years later we are getting married this aug 🙂
However- Out of my year of about 100 people, about only 15 are married, and a lot arnt in long term relationships!
Although being irish, average time to get hitched is after 5-7 years of being together!!

Mine is pretty weird – My ex used to go to Blockbuster video all the time to get free rentals from his ex… and I went with him once. My (now) husband was dating my (then) boyfriend’s ex… and he was at blockbuster too. Haha.
So my husband and my ex both dated the same girl.. and that is how I met him. lol!

- Wedding: April 2011 - in the woods
We met at an orphanage in Honduras. I’m from the northern US, he’s from the southern US, but the Lord made our paths cross one summer, when our times serving at the orphanage overlapped six weeks. We did everything together: milked cows by hand, built barbed wire fence, ate who knows what, castrated pigs, rode horses through the mountains, played soccer…We discovered that we make such a good team and have so much in common. Here we are, 2.5 years later, planning our wedding! : )

We met at a triathlon open-water practice swim in a state park at 7:00 AM. No make up and, uh, in a swim cap, goggles, and a tri-suit…nothing to hide 🙂 We ended up in the same swim group and then went for a run afterwards. He asked for my number and called me the very next day. The funny part is that when he called, he left the most detailed message I’ve ever heard (reminding me where we met, etc.). Like, I could forget, it was the day before! And he has a British accent (not exactly common in GA where we met).

Oh, hon, I met the man of my dreams at the ripe age of 44! At the urging of a friend who needed company, I went to a country music bar one Friday night. I’m not a country music fan, and I don’t get the whole line dancing thing, so when the dance floor was overrun by line dancers, I went to the bar for a drink.
A tall, handsome guy was standing right next to me, and without thinking, I said, “What’s with all the lemmings on the dance floor?” His response: “I agree. Dancing was meant to be between a man and a woman.” Whoah!
We ended up dancing (freestyle!) the rest of the night, and we’ve been inseparable ever since. After three years together, we got married last December (my first marriage, his second). The clincher: He’s almost 10 years younger than me. 🙂
Moral of the story: It can happen anytime, anywhere, and is most likely to happen when you’re not even looking!
Here’s us on the bet day of our lives:

My finance knew me from a few years ago, and heard about me again when his friend went on a casual date with me. He tried to find a way to meet me and happened to bring my name up when my uncle was with him. (He had no idea we were related.) My uncle told my aunt, and my friends approached me about dating again. I thought I may be interested, but wanted to think it over.
The next night, I had a flue fire, and had the fire department here.
The next night, I found out he was a volunteer firefighter, and was dying to find out if he made my call. I was feeling extremely grateful for firefighters and decided to give him a chance.
We went for coffee and seemed to mesh well. After our second date, we have been inseparable.

We met backstage at the theatre. It was all a bit unexpected as we were both with other people. There were some pretty sudden, expected break-ups. Messy.
Most of my single 30s friends are using Internet dating to find partners. It’s already worked for my best friend, who’s getting married next year 🙂
