We are getting ready to start a small registry in advance of some showers/parties coming up. We’re looking at Macy’s, Belk, Crate & Barrel, Target, maybe Bed Bath & Beyond… Trying to narrow down the field 🙂
I’m curious — Where did you register?

We decided to register at two places: we did Crate & Barrel and Sur La Table.

Future Mother-In-Law and Future Father-In-Law wanted us to register at three stores (one very affordable, one mid-range, and one higher-end) so we opted for Target, Macy’s, and Williams-Sonoma. I think the whole “tiered” thing is a little arbitrary, since the prices of the items we put on our registries at all three places basically overlap, but, eh, I have great future in-laws, and if doing this made them happy, I’m happy to do it!

We registered at Target and Amazon.com

Bed Bath and Beyond. That was the only place we registered because they had everything we needed and there are billions of locations around all of our family and friends, but people always look at us weird when they ask where we’re registered, we tell them Bed Bath and Beyond, they say okay where else? and we say that’s it. So apparently, you have to register at more than once place. haha

We registered at Flight Centre for our wedding, and nowhere else for our wedding showers etc.

We registered at Amazon – it worked out really well. If you see something on another site (say Macy’s) that you can’t find on Amazon, you can still put it on your Amazon registry and it will link to the item you want on the other site.

We registered at Bed, Bath and Beyond, Crate and Barrel and myregistry.com. To be honest, I know Macy’s is a good option, but I feel like they have almost everything that BBB has. We found our duvet at both BBB and Macys and it was $100 more at Macy’s – what a rip off! We’ve found the myregistry.com as a good option because we can add something from random places where we didn’t want to create an entire registry (Sur La Table, Pottery Barn, etc).

We registered at Bed, Bath and Beyond and Target. 🙂

@MackInChiCity: Macy’s has great sales and coupons! You never pay full price there
So we registered at Macy’s and Crate & Barrel. One high, one low. Both have great return policies, both have numerous locations and online shopping and both have great sales that guests can take advantage of.
I would not register at Target as their return policy is atrocious.
Also don’t register somewhere where all of your friend’s are registered. Everyone here registers at BBB. End result? Everyone has the same B.Smith serving dishes. I don’t know about you but I want different stuff!

@baletrina: Yep, good point — We have friends that registered at Macy’s and I see their china pattern all the time… I’m thinking of getting our china from Belk (a place no one else has registered).
I love this one bedding set at Pottery Barn, but they are discontinuing it… Part of me wants to go ahead and buy it because it’s on sale as a result… and maybe just register for coordinating sheets!
@MackInChiCity: I’ll look into MyRegistry.com — thanks.
@KCKnd2: We definitely want to respect all price points, and will likely do something very similar.

We did our big registry at Bed Bath and Beyond and a smaller registry with more decorative pieces and serving pieces at Crate & Barrel.

We did BBB and Macys. Honestly I didn’t love BBB but they have a good return policy and stores in a lot of areas.

We did Williams-Sonoma, Crate & Barrel, and Target. (We thought of it as one high end, one mid-range, and one low-end, in terms of how pricey items are. But we didn’t register for very many expensive things at any of the stores.)

I registered at Macy’s, BBB, and Crate and Barrel.
I loved the initial instore regisitry process at BBB, but the website has its flaws. First, there is no thank you manager to keep track of your gifts like the other 2 stores I mentioned. Also, as recently posted here, the website keeps logging you out everytime you go to add something – annoying and time consuming.
