@Foreverblonde345:  Ha ha you and me both! My aunt gave me her heirloom china and crystal and it is all packed up with my grandmother’s silverware. I am saving it all for when the Queen comes to dinner.

We did our main registry at Bed, Bath and Beyond and have loved our return experience so far. They have been over the top accommodating and have given us ridicuslou discounts.

We also registered at Target but I wouldn’t recommend it thanks to their crazy policies and seemingly endless computer/registry errors.

@Treejewel19:  Too funny – when the Queen comes to dinner! I almost spit my wine out laughing. I am trying to use it all on a regular basis because I got sick of polishing the silver and read that if you use it regularly than it doesn’t tarnish. Right, I’ll see how long this lasts – after hand washing stuff a couple times mine will probably be set aside for when the Queen comes also! It just cracks me up that once upon a time people had special spoons just for eating grapefruit and lemon wedge forks. I am pretty good with etiquette and I honestly didn’t know what half the stuff was but thankfully Tiffany helped identify its intended use.  Doesn’t everyone need a domed butter plate with space for ice underneath it? Really?

@Foreverblonde345:  Who uses a special grapefruit spoon? Pssssh who would do that? *hides in the corner* They are awesome and make eating those things so much easier.

I have a butter bell and it is awesome. Room temperature butter at my disposal at all times, it is amazing. All you do is change out the water every couple of days.

Let me know how the silverware thing goes. I am curious if that is actually true. I just might not have to wait for the Queen after all.

@Hou25:  What about something like registry 360? I haven’t really looked into it too much yet, but I think that compiles all your registries together online. So maybe you could still put things from Ikea on your list without actually registering through that store? Just a thought!

We registered at Target, Macy’s, and Bed Bath & Beyond.  Our BBB registry has the most stuff on it, so a lot of people have been buying from there, but surprisingly a lot of people have been buying stuff from Macy’s as well. Not too much activity on the Target registry!

Macy’s, Sur la Table, and Williams-Sonoma. We did it all on-line. 90% of the gifts came form Macy’s, but our best gifts were from Williams-Sonoma.

Get on that tonight!

ETA: Beware Target’s ridiculous return policies. You can read through past posts and see that some Bees have had a lot of difficulties with Target.

@Treejewel19:  OMG, i am impressed that you use a grapefruit spoon and a butter bell! I didn’t even know that is what it is called.  Having my silver flatware in a – geez, I can’t remember what it’s called, I’ve had a glass of wine and am jet lagged, but one of those wooden cases that have velvet inside for silver flatware prevents my flatware from tarnishing very effectively but it’s all the darn service ware – platters, bowls, candlesticks, candy dishes, stuff I cant even figure out what it is, that tarnish constantly. Sadly, my maternal grandmothers’ best friend was killed at the Coconut Grove fire in Boston a few weeks after she got married. Her family wanted my grandmother to have all of her wedding presents to use them and remember her fondly when she hosted dinners and parties.  Add that to my own families’ heirlooms and it’s overwhelming. But I feel bad packing it up inboxes and never using it so I’m trying. Sooooo trying but I don’t think I have the patience. If I can’t figure out what something is, I am so posting a picture of it for you to tell me!

We did Crate & Barrel and Williams-Sonoma. I got more stuff from C&B since they were generally cheaper than my WS but the WS things are great and some of the first we unboxed!

We registered at Bed, Bath & Beyond, and created an online registry with MyRegistry.com for things from Ikea, Canadian Tire, and Home Depot; all which don’t offer registries but stock the things we actually want for our home.
