We haven’t had our wedding yet but we rented a house near our venue for the entire weekend of our wedding, so we will be there Friday night – Monday morning.

We haven’t had our wedding yet, but we booked a hotel. It’s a destination wedding, so we didn’t really have a house to go back to.

Having to make a flight for our honeymoon on our wedding day would have majorly stressed me out! I have really bad travel anxiety. We spent our wedding night and the next night at a hotel before leaving for our honeymoon.

We had an afternoon wedding, drove 3 hours that night and stayed at an antebellum home for 2 nights before flying out on our honeymoon.

Our venue actually came with a 2 night stay at their resort (not where we are getting married, but close by), so we will be there. Even if it wasn’t for that, we would have booked a hotel room anyway. I think it would be way too hectic and tiring to try to leave directly for the honeymoon.

We went back to our house. My family and friends encouraged us to stay in a hotel to “make it special” but honestly, plopping down on our sofa after the long day and cuddling and laughing in our wedding clothes while we finished off the last of the desert bar strawberries is one of my favorite memories of the night.  It wasn’t until that moment – alone in our own space – that it really hit me that we got married!

leelee93 :  I guess hotel to fit your poll.  We stayed at a cabin on our venue site where we’d also stayed a couple days before. When we left I took off on a mini vacation with my sister and my husband went back to work – no honeymoon for us!

We had a destination elopement so we stayed in a gorgeous Airbnb within a Victorian home.

We are having an out-of-state Destination Wedding. Our reception is taking place at a big house my family rented for the week, but we got a hotel room for just that night.

We stayed at our apartment. Darling Husband really wanted to do that vs. a hotel. In retrospect, I wish I would have vetoed him on that. It just made some other thngs more complicated than it needed to be since we got ready there that morning and had to send extra decorations/gifts home with a friend so our house would feel like home that night, not a messy pile of curling irons and boxes.

We stayed at the venue, which was a lodge/B&B.

We’re just going back to our house. We are cutting out a hotel on the wedding night and renting a limo to save money and because they aren’t areas of the wedding we were too passionate about.

I voted “went back to our house” but we actually stayed the night on our houseboat.  So kind of the same thing, but still “special” like some people say a hotel is.  We wanted something different but the idea of spending money to spend our wedding night on a hotel bed that a million other people had slept on wasn’t what we wanted, lol.  Our houseboat is super special to us so it fit the bill perfectly.  Also, it was close to our venue so we hitched a ride from some friends (we had a LOT to drink that night) and crashed in the boat.  It was perfect!

Had a Saturday night wedding and didn’t leave until Monday morning for our honeymoon, thankfully.  I can’t imagine going any sooner since we still had to clean up the venue, pack up gifts, and finish packing for our trip!
