We have a room reserved, but honestly in your situation I would stay at home. I guess it depends on your budget, but I would want to save the $200 for the honeymoon. You’ll be getting in late and tired from the wedding, and you’ll be packing the next day during the day. If the money isn’t a problem than go for the hotel.

this is almost identical to our situation.
definitely sounds a little funny

Our venue is an hour from our house. The majority of our guests are from out of town so they will be staying in our hotel blocks. I know we want to stay in an hotel as well just not sure if we want the same one as our guests. I guess in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter especially if the hotel comps our room for booking so many!

You can’t pack before the wedding? That way you can just go, have a day in town the go straight on your honeymoon?
if you can’t then I really like aussiemums idea of getting the room for two nights and then just going home to pack in the day and back to the hotel that night.
There is something lovely about waking up as husband and wife, make it special – you only get to do it once

We stayed at the hotel that our reception was at, since the “honeymoon suite” was included in our package.

- Wedding: May 2015 - Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception / Courtyard Marriott Legacy Ballroom
We went home after the reception since DH’s house is about 5 minutes from our venue, but we had the option of staying at the hotel where we had the reception for free. I just personally wanted to spend our first night as husband and wife at our own home

We went home lol. We already live together though, and a few friends came over to have drinks with us because we had a dry wedding. I think a hotel or a B&B would be really romantic though, just because.
