@Miss Tattoo: Thanks for your thorough replies! I appreciate it.

This is a difficult decision…I think I’m going to email What Katie Did and Kiss Me Deadly companies to ask them what they think is best based on my needs for the dress and inexperience with corsets.

I like the idea of having perfect posture, but I am worried about being very uncomfortable by the end of the night.

I would definitely get one with steel boming and break it in for even 3 months before…

Thx for all the tips Miss Tattoo!!

*bump* Did you ever decide what you were going to buy?

I ended up buying the white overbust Meschantes had on sale on Ebay.  They customized the waist size, made it a smooth front (so no front busk to minimize any show through), and made it dip in the back so that it wouldn’t show up underneath my gown.  Communication (email) was excellent and my corset arrived less than 3 weeks after I placed my order. (There wasn’t an additional charge for the customization.)

I didn’t realize though how much bust support I would lose when I lowered the back though (either that or I’m just used to my Victoria’s Secret push up bras with all the fake padding).  I have a too big for B/not a full C cup size, and I have to say it gives me no cleavage whatsoever.  It does fabulous things for my waist but I was hoping for a little more up and out for the girls.

If I had a little more chest, it might be perfect, but it doesn’t really do anything for me.  The cups are supportive but I don’t have much to support : /

If I can’t sell it, I’m going to see if I can either send it back to them or take it to a local seamstress to make it an underbust instead.

Oh well, it looks like I’m going to end up with a regular long-line bra from Victoria’s Secret.  If I can ever find one in white…

Is it hard to size them online? I’m afraid to buy one because I’m not sure about the fitting…

@FutureMrsMcDermott:  I don’t think so. I told the company I went with how high in the front/back/waist it should be and it matched those specs perfectly.  I just didn’t take into account my previously mentioned lack of assets 😀  Their website said the corset I bought was designed for a B-C-D sized and recommends a different model for larger cup sizes.  I just forgot that I haven’t owned an unlined bra for years.  All my bras are VS push-ups and so the cups (and the effect) of the corset was very different from what I’ve been used to/expecting.  I was thinking I’d get the same effect that a regular overbust corset would give (I have one already in a smaller size).  Dropping the back reduced some of the corset (pirate-wench) type cleavage I was expecting.

I would like to advise people against Meschantes corsets.

I payed over $200 for a custom corset and what i received was totally different from what i described and the pictures i sent. When i tried to discuss the issue with them they sent 1 email saying that they do not take responsibility for people not measuring accurately but this was not the issue at all- they just made a corset of a totally different shape to what i ordered (and also totally different to any corset on their site!!).  They then refused to answer any email i sent.

I had found thid corset and ordered it on Etsy but it seems that when Meschantes sent the Paypal invoice they somehow unlinked it from Etsy because i can’t even write feedback. I have read from others that their reviews on Etsy may not be very honest….

I had planned to wear the corset as outerwear rather than underwear, however the corset i received was terrible- the bottom hemline of it was the weirdest shape and i have never seen  corset like it! It is so bad that i ended up throwing it in the bin rather than keeping it.  The back was done up with old shoelaces.

Since having this horrid experience with Meschantes, I have googled their name and found loads and loads of reviews from unhappy customers (who were also unable to complain on the official feedback sites for whatever reason). I only wish i had researched this company a lot more before I decided to rely on them for my wedding outfit. I am not sure i can even get something else made in time for my wedding now (which is on the 21st!) and i am hoping that i don’t have to cancel my wedding because of Meschantes.

This thread is embarassingly old for me to bump, but if anyone else has some ideas it’d be useful.

I’m really hard to size and a 28E bra-size, and I’m 5’0 on a good day so I have a shorter tummy than others.

Does anyone else have any ideas of places that do custom corsets and stuff?  If it’s cheaper that’d be good, too.

Edit: Wanted to add that I’m not looking for a corset to make me look smaller or change my body-structure.  I just want a sexy corset.

Easy to find plastic boned fashion corsets. Fredricks, tons of places on line. Orcherd corset has not too bad of ones. Steel boned. Still takes a month or so to break in.
