In an out of town wedding I was in, my husband and I stayed in a hotel. I absolutely would not have dragged him along only to make him stay by himself. I was with the bridal party the entire evening before and the entire next day. I definitely didn’t want to spend the night with them too. The bride had two of the bridesmaids stay with her that evening but one was local and the other didn’t bring a plus one. I would definitely suggest the hotel because unless the house has enough rooms for all the couples, I would be shocked if they all wanted to stay.

CloverBells :  How many rooms are available? I think it’s rude to only offer it to the bridal party and not the SOs.

ETA: If there are only a few rooms I would let the wedding party know that there are a few (if there are) rooms available, first come first serve..that could be for someone who wants a room to themself or a couple. From there, maybe do some research on a nice but affordable hotel nearby for thr rest to stay at if they want.

“Sleeps 17″… heck, this could mean you’re expecting your wedding party to sleep 2 to a bed as I’m doubting they have 17 individual beds. I would not be down for that, at all.

CloverBells :  The traditional etiquette, which always surprises people to learn, is that you are supposed to provide or pay for accomodations for out of town bridal party members. That would include spouses or live in partners.

That said, you can offer, but no one is obligated to stay with you or apart from their partners.

I would find out exactly how many the house sleeps (while giving people privacy, ie not squashing 2 couples into the same room).  And in terms of bathrooms, are there enough for everyone to get ready at the same time?

My preference would be to have my own hotel room to have a private little quiet space of my own.  I’m sure you have similar members of the wedding party.

Actually, the bee is the only place I’ve ever heard of the bridesmaids and groomsmen staying with the bride and groom the night before the wedding… although usually it seems to be in more of a slumber party sense.
