Hi all! I’ve been reading some of these boards from afar the past few weeks waiting to become engaged and yesterday on my birthday, it finally happened! π I’ll show you my ring… π

It is a Verriago Euro 750 with a .84 (I believe) round cut diamond in the center. I absoutely adore itttt! Show me pics of your rings π
So, my fiance (!!!) and I are thinking about the spring/summer of 2018 for our wedding. We want to take our time and enjoy the process, along with not spend a ton of money at one time. I’m just sort of stuck on what we should do to start the process? I really just don’t know where to begin… I’d love to hear all your thoughts and opinions.
Thank you in advance!

loginther: start with budget and guest list. You can’t find a venue until you know how much you can spend and how many people need to fit in

loginther: The very first decision that needs to be made is your budget. Given that you are still so far out from your date, you do have time to save. Do not include any money that parents may offer, until you have the check in your hand. Money from parents often comes with strings attached, so if you are not comfortable with that, just decline their offer.
Once you have decided the budget, make your guestlist. Decide on the “must be there”, “nice to be there” and “only if space and budget allows” guusts.
Now that you have a budget and a guestlist, breakdown the budget into subsections-dress, groom’s clothing, flowers, venue etc. There are online tools that can help. Everything is flexible. If you are not a big, expensive dress person, you will free up $$ for something else.
When you know what $$ you have available for your venue and reception including catering, then you need to find a venue that will allow you to properly host your “must be there” guests. If you can’t afford to have a plated dinner and dancing, there are lots of perfectly acceptable options to save money including the day of the week, time of day, type of meal etc. If you are holding a reception over a meal hour, then your guests will expect to be fed a meal.
Relax and enjoy your planning. You have lots of time.

Congratulations to you both! Your ring is beautiful. I’d say you need to decide on numbers, budget and venue before you can do anything else. Good luck with it all!
Here’s my ring as requested:
