@Rachel631:  Any good local seamstress could make you a lightweight summer hooded cape.

Something like this for a lot less money. This is actually a very simple pattern to sew.

Have you tried ebay or costume shops? I did a quick search for a “white cape” on ebay and the first few hits are all about $20-40.

That said, if you don’t need a cloak with shaped shoulders, basic circular capes/cloaks are actually quite easy to make. The patterns are readily available from any craft store and I even found beautiful pewter cloak clasps from ebay too!

@Rachel631:  Do you really think you will need something that heavy in the summer?

@rusticbee2014:  They are easy to make- only a few seams, sew lining and fabric together all the way round, leave an opening to turn right side out attach the hood. I could do it easily in one sewing session.
