andreanb:  But they don’t have to be. 🙂 We had the budget so we went for it. We’re in a great financial position (slightly strained now with me taking some time off) but we figured we’re going to do it once, let’s do it big! 

Like others have said, do take a couple of weeks at least to sit down and relax. We live in a “rural” area (we are a capital city but on the other side of the country so everything is double the price plus we’re going through an economical boom) so our prices are going to be more. Plus there’s really only three to four months of the year that you can get married and it’s nice weather. So weekends book up fast so we needed get on it quickly. I had 18 months to plan, and I had my venue (ceremony and reception), celebrant and photographer all deposited on within six weeks of being engaged.
