I’ve bought furniture at Home Comfort, World Market, Pier 1, Restoration Hardware, Leather & Wood – to name a few.

What kind of furniture do you need and are you looking for new or used?

I bought our couch and loveseat from The Brick… just don’t sign up for their mailing list. You’ll get annoying voicemails every week for years!

I had great luck at Boston Interiors. I also love Thomasville, but they are much more expensive so we just bought our bedroom set there.

Our bedroom set came from Pottery Barn – we splurged. Our dining table and breakfront came from my mom’s best friend’s in laws, we refinished it. Our couches came from a member of our community who put an ad on a bulletin and I bought couch covers. Our TV stand from Craiglist. Our coffee table from a friend of my father’s for free. I guess what I’m trying to get at is that we used a lot of networking tools to help us acquire the pieces we have. Maybe post on a bulletin if you are a member of a synogague or church – something community oriented. Also check Craiglist. You can find junk and amazing stuff on that website. Our TV unit was from a really nice engaged couple who had a gorgeous beach view apartment and they were selling it purely because they were moving to a smaller apartment in a very populated city area and they just couldn’t fit it. It is a gorgeous piece!

Also Target. We got a lamp and bookshelf from there. Love them.

Walmart…(tries to hide shame) haha

The sofa and bed we bought were of surprisingly high quality. I love them both.

Yay for being a broke post-grad!

I think Ashley furniture is having a HUGE sale by the way. My mother in law got a lot of her furniture from there and her pieces are lovely.

We bought from Jordan’s and Bernie & Phyls.

We got our couch at Boston Interiors and our TV stand and coffee table… and 2 rugs so far from Overstock.  I LOVE overstock!  It’s tough to get stuff wihtout seeing it, but it’s worked out great… our tv stand and coffee table, almost exactly the same design as Boston Interior except maybe different pulls was like half the price.

I got all my bedroom and dining furniture from West Elm. Love it! In Houston and Dallas, West Elm always participates in a shoppers card program, usually around the holidays, where you pay $60 for discounts at lots of participating stores. I was able to get 20% off everything at West Elm and the card more than paid for itself.
