Wow, I live in NE Ohio and rent, electric, gas (cars), gas (home), groceries .. a little over 1,000 a month. It’s cheap here (: but it’s incredibly boring and not scenic.

We spend about $1600.00/mo on the expenses that we combine:

    • Rent- $1050.00
    • Groceries- $300.00
    • Gas & Electric- $120.00
    • Cable- $100.00
    • Renter’s Insurance- $11.00

All other expenses we pay seperate, such as: cell phones, car loans, personal loans, credit cards, gas, student loans, health insurance, and vehicle maintenance.  I generally spend about another $700.00/mo on that stuff for me. I’m not sure what he’s spending.

     ETA: We live in PA.

When I was living alone, I would spend about $2500 per month for living expenses and other fun stuff. That number is based on my annual salary minus my annual savings. Now it’s a little more difficult to quantify because of the wedding planning and because Fiance lives here too now. I don’t keep a spreadsheet of costs; I just generally try to be frugal with all my costs so I don’t have a chance of going over. This is in the Midwest.

Our monthly expenses are 3000.00 We live in south florida and that does include rent. Without rent its 1600 including water and basic cable.

    450 on his lease

    400 on my car

    300 on insurace (auto)

    115 electricity

300 food (not including going out)

    50 for cable upgrade

    45 on internet

    His cellphone is free

    We have zero student loans

He has healthcare with his company

He gets paid for every mile he drives pertaining to work up to $900 but we do not count on that. I will say we could probably cut our car payments/leases in half but since we do not plan on having kids anytime soon we spluge but it does bother me how much we spend.

PonkiHoneyBee:  Fiance and I live in NYC.

Our monthly expenses are $2,500 total with $1,500 of that being rent.

I am REALLY good at budgeting. If you have any questions go for it, I’m an open book.

Combining rent, a decent standard of living, food, transportation, and my student loans, my Fiance and I spend upwards of $5,000 each month. We live smack dab in the middle of Central London, though, so that may have something to do with it.

MrsBuesleBee:  Aw, thanks! It started out of necessity, when Fiance and I met we were young and broke. I learned to budget when we were both working for minimum wage in Boston. If you can make it on minimum wage everything else feels like a walk in the park! 🙂

Our monthly expenses are vastly lower than most evidently. We live in rural MN

Mortgage $450 (we have a 5 bedroom 2 full bath home with ovr 2k square feet)

    Natural gas $30

    Electric $70

    Trash pick up $14

    City water/sewer $25

    Internet $35

    Cell phones x2 $80

    Groceries $100/month

Car insurance (for both cars combined) $100

    Wine $20

We have other smaller expenses, but nothing significant. No student loan debt, we own our cars. We don’t go out to eat much nor do we buy clothing or go out on a monthly basis.
