ToppyAidan: Thank you. I would like to see if I am on par on my NYC budget, and also learn about the cost of living in other cities relative to NYC, that is why I did not limit the sample to NYC bees and as you can see, I have asked bees to state the city they are based in.

We spend about $1600.00/mo on the expenses that we combine:
- Rent- $1050.00
- Groceries- $300.00
- Gas & Electric- $120.00
- Cable- $100.00
- Renter’s Insurance- $11.00
All other expenses we pay seperate, such as: cell phones, car loans, personal loans, credit cards, gas, student loans, health insurance, and vehicle maintenance. I generally spend about another $700.00/mo on that stuff for me. I’m not sure what he’s spending.
ETA: We live in PA.

When I was living alone, I would spend about $2500 per month for living expenses and other fun stuff. That number is based on my annual salary minus my annual savings. Now it’s a little more difficult to quantify because of the wedding planning and because Fiance lives here too now. I don’t keep a spreadsheet of costs; I just generally try to be frugal with all my costs so I don’t have a chance of going over. This is in the Midwest.

He gets paid for every mile he drives pertaining to work up to $900 but we do not count on that. I will say we could probably cut our car payments/leases in half but since we do not plan on having kids anytime soon we spluge but it does bother me how much we spend.

Combining rent, a decent standard of living, food, transportation, and my student loans, my Fiance and I spend upwards of $5,000 each month. We live smack dab in the middle of Central London, though, so that may have something to do with it.

MrsBuesleBee: Aw, thanks! It started out of necessity, when Fiance and I met we were young and broke. I learned to budget when we were both working for minimum wage in Boston. If you can make it on minimum wage everything else feels like a walk in the park! 🙂

Our monthly expenses are vastly lower than most evidently. We live in rural MN
Mortgage $450 (we have a 5 bedroom 2 full bath home with ovr 2k square feet)
Natural gas $30
Trash pick up $14
City water/sewer $25
Cell phones x2 $80
Car insurance (for both cars combined) $100
We have other smaller expenses, but nothing significant. No student loan debt, we own our cars. We don’t go out to eat much nor do we buy clothing or go out on a monthly basis.
