I bought a house during residency. Mr. DG moved in nearly 2 years ago now… We are currently working on renovating the basement so the house doesn’t fall down. It turns 100 years old in a couple of months!

@ Mrs. DG: That’s so exciting. I’ve always wanted an older house.
We can’t wait to move into our house. We think we’re about a month away!!

NYC = apartment! Although we have a two bedroom, which is a decent size by NYC standards, so I’m not complaining. My Fiance can’t wait to have a house and a yard though.

We wanted to buy a house, but our real estate agent was HORRIBLE so we ran out of time and are now leasing a condo… Oh what I would give for my own house!!

After living in 4 different rented apartments in addition to college dorms… I’m happy to say I finally own a house along with Fiance. 🙂 While I never minded renting, it’s just nice to not have to answer to a landlord!

I live in a condo! I hate it… only because our strata members are retired couples with nothing better to do than breathe down our necks. Everyone is spying on each other so they can rat the next person out.
They send out these letters like “A certain unit (they never give suite numbers) in the complex was spotted moving a couch into their unit on Monday, September 10th at 2pm. Please note moving furniture in & out of the building is only permitted the last Saturday of the month” They get sent out a few times a week- think of all the poor trees! We’re supposed to be a green community.
Plus its a lot more expensive than I thought it would be. Between the strata fees & the new things they keep adding: I can’t wait to sell this place. They want to install a camera system (so they can spy more) and its costing each unit $500. It’s a new building (less than 2 years old) and they’re always making new changes & costly upgrades. I feel like a tennant instead of an owner.
lol I went to the last strata meeting & people were getting their tar and pitchforks ready.
*vent over* phewf!

Joey- I think it’s so exciting that you got to build exactly what you want! I can’t wait until you move in. Maybe I’ll get to check it out someday 🙂

We’re in a rental house right now but I’m hoping sometime next year we’ll become proud home owners!

My parents helped us to buy a home. We weren’t ready, but the market was so good that we didn’t want to miss a good opportunity. So we bought a house together and are (slowly) buying them out.
It’s a 1920’s colonial in bad shape and we are slowly renovating (restoring!) it to perfection.
I feel extremely blessed and thankful.
