I was just thinking on this and was wondering where a lot of the bees shop. When I was a teen, I used to frequent payless and its higher end sister store Parade of shoes which has since closed down. Now not so much. I’d rather spend a little bit more money at TJMaxx or Loehmanns or even Daffy’s or the Macy’s clearance racks. Living in NYC, there is never an end to the kind of shopping I’m exposed to. I don’t shop online as much though 🙁 Anyhow, let’s see it bees, where do you shop and do you think you do get a discount??

Depends on what I’m looking for.. I like to go to Lloyd and taylorTJMaxx, Marshalls, Burlington coat factory, Charlotte Russe, H&M, Zara and sometimes forever 21 for cute accessories.
I go to macys occasionally [usually if I have a gift card] because I’ve discovered that I can get the exact same brands from other places for half the price that macys sells it at. Macy’s is over price IMO

I don’t shop at department stores. I shop at J Crew, Gap, little independent boutiques, Zara, BCBG, Anthropologie, etc. both online and in-store.

I usually shop at TJMaxx/Marshalls, Target, Thrift stores – occasionally I will go to the mall and buy something from H&M/Express/NY&Co

Most of my clothes are from Bloomies/Anthropologie/Nordstroms. I rarely shop online because I like to try things on before making a decision. I find stores like H&M, Forever 21 ovewhelming and have to be in the mood to dig around for things (aka almost never).

I don’t shop much at all now that I’m in grad school and have less disposable income plus it doesn’t matter how I dress most days…but when I do it’s usually places like J. Crew/Anthropologie/Ann Taylor loft, and I often buy online because I’m too lazy/busy to go out, and sometimes they have more online anyway. though J Crew has an in-store student discount, I need to hit that up soon for some new summer clothes…if I need something fancy, like last year when I was looking for a bridal shower dress, I usually check Bloomies first

Um you forgot filene’s basement and Century 21. But my favorite store is FOX’s… I’ve never been to the brooklyn store but I always do good at the 1 in forest hills, and the one in Mineola is huge, with a separate shoe store. But they are like the only store left that doesn’t take credit.

My most frequent two are probably macy’s and our local outlet mall. They have a banana republic and ann taylor there that I LOVE and are super cheap.

Bloomies mainly. It’s close to the office and right above the subway line that takes me home.
Otherwise usually online (Banana Republic, J. Crew, etc).

@msgraphics: Yeah, Filenes and Century 21 are cool but didn’t they close the filenes on 18th? The only one that I would go to is the one on Union Square but I haven’t been there in a while. Which reminds me, I do have a gift card for that place. Century 21, I need to take a deep breath before I go in there. So crowded. Did anyone ever shop at Anbar shoes?

I.Hate.Shopping. With a passion. I like TJ MAXX for shoes and accessories. My experience with them for clothes has been pretty bad. Contrary to their clever marketing, I have found that they sell a lot of imperfect clothes and designer quality rejects. Other than that, I like H&M and Forever 21 when I have the patience.

I generally try not to shop too much and get by with what I already have, but if I go on any sort of spree it’s usually picking things up on sale, basics from Old Navy or American Apparel, dress stuff from BCBG and Marciano. I also like to try to shop Guilt and Ideeli I like to shop when I travel so that I have something from the places I’ve been, so I’ll go into small locally owned shops to buy unique skirts, dresses and acessories. I’ve been on a huge lululemon kick lately for my workout stuff and also sometimes shop at REI because the flagship store is HUGE and has a lot of comfortable and durable stuff. Working from home keeps me from getting very fashionable.
