I am in a battle with the Future Mother-In-Law on where the dj will set up! I think it should be next to the dance floor she thinks it should be in the back of the room…. I want my guest to dance and have fun and I think having the dj in the back takes away from the “hype” of even having a dj come! Thoughts????

Definitely near the dance floor! Our dance floor actually had a built in area for the DJ to set up. The party is on the dance floor, and the DJ is in charge of the party. Plus, your DJ is likely serving as your Master of Ceremonies, which means he is keeping the whole reception on pace. He’ll be announcing your toasts and your first dance. He’ll be giving your guests cues on what they should be doing and what they should be paying attention to. Definitely shouldn’t be stuck in the back of the room!!!

Its hard to picture these spots since we don’t know your venue. Overall, I think its better to have the DJ closer to the dance floor so that guests who aren’t dancing don’t have to be blasted with music.

The bridal tables are in front of the dance floor and all the guest tables are behind it. So the dj would be on the side of the dance floor. She thinks that it will take away from the bridal table but I cant imagine the Dj not being bythe dance floor!

The DJ will do a better job if he’s close to the dance floor so he can watch the crowd, so he can pick and choose his playlist based on the guests’ response. A good DJ can do that from the back of the room but it’s a lot harder because he can’t see the guests’ facial expressions.
