So we are struggling with our themes. We really wanted to keep with the feel of our venue which is a major performance hall. So we decided we wanted a theatre (like live theatre) theme. The problem is the only places that is showing up is the RSVP’s which will look like theatre tickets and our programs which were going to mimic playbills. We did the same thing before with cherry blossoms and now the only place you are going to see those is in our centerpieces. At this point I am at a loss at what to do. A woman at my grandmothers marketing firm was helping us make our invite stuff and programs but at this point I am so frustrated I just want to tell her to forget it and print it myself on some cardstock. Grr. So, to help me realize I am not crazy and there is help, please tell me what your theme is/was and how you are incorporating it into your design.

Are you having escort cards? Could they be incorporated into that?
What about using the more traditional theater masks in your centerpieces (or your escort cards) or your favors? google theater masks in google if you dont know what I mean.
Red velvet is traditional theater too that they use for the curtain, so can you use that some place? maybe on your card table?

@lefeymw: Soo I thought about all that too! But, we aren’t doing assigned seating because it is a buffet and I hate assigned seating at weddings when you don’t need it. But that is just me. lol. And I was thinking just now that I might use Musical Theatre posters as table names/numbers. Our centerpieces are going to be tall vases with cherry blossoms in water and floating candles. I promised Mr. Shef we would have cherry blossoms somewhere and that is where we agreed they could be.

Hmm… could you have a red carpet, or does your venue have a marqee that you could put info up on?
What about something like this for a favour?

I would suggest having a wedding movie poster done, as a centerpiece of the lobby area. I came across this:

@SandyThePoet: I was just reading your comment and I love that idea! I am having a 18th century theater themed wedding (fiance is a composer- film, musicals etc). The venue we have is perfect with its neo-classical design. We do have a lounge area, live orchestra and live band for after dinner. I like the playbill, theater tickets idea and I even have the old music sheet wrap on the favor boxes but I totally forgot the poster! He had composed several original songs for the wedding (hence the actual playbill) and the actual favors are real musical instruments which guests will get play along with. I am scientist and I make poster all the time so this will be a cinch. But since it IS 18th century, I will have it canvas wrapped professionally. Thanks for the idea!
