It depends on your definition of affordable. The obvious other choice would seem to be Mexico, but that can get pricy depending on where you go.

Agree, what is your budget?  Many places are pricey to get too, but cheap to stay and eat.

Do you like all-inclusives or would rather do something else?

Are you looking for a beach vacation or culture-oriented or both?

Do you prefer domestic or international?

Check livingsocial.com, Kingy and I have been all over the world this year (around the US, Europe, and Australia) and just want a simple, relaxing vacation so we looked there and found a trip to Puerto Vallarta with massages, food, drinks, etc. included for less than $800, then booked our flights for about $800 so we ended up with a honeymoon for less than 2k and we’re excited to just lay on the beach! They also have trips to Costa Rica and other inexpensive places.

Have you thought about Belize?

Its not so far so flights can be reasonable, but its different than Mexico with a lot of different things to do such as rain forest tours, Mayan ruins, beach, snorkeling, boating etc!  Its relatively cheap once you are there as well.

I bet with some research you can find some great deals if you are flexible about staying on the mainland or on the Ambergris Cayes.

http://www.bookit.com often has great combination deals as well.

What cruise lines did you check out? I believe Carnival and Royal Carribean both have some that leave on Sunday. I could be wrong though.
