As many of you know, Darling Husband and I recently moved from San Antonio to Seattle.
We hired professional movers, who guaranteed ten business days for delivery. Ten business days was last Friday. When Darling Husband called to complain we were basically told the sales people should have never promised ten days, that it was unrealistic. OKAY. We were offered a whopping $15 per day our stuff was late. Pathetic. We were told our stuff would be here this past Tuesday or Wednesday.
Flash forward to yesterday, Wednesday, and we hadn’t heard from anyone. A phone call to the company reveals they can deliver in the evening. Annoying, but ok, we just want our stuff NOW. 8pm rolls around, no word from the movers. A phone call reveals they are running behind, how about tomorrow, Thursday, morning? Grrrrr, fine.
Today we wake up, have lunch, and it’s really no surprise that we haven’t heard from the movers. Darling Husband calls and finds out the company scheduled a last minute pick-up just outside of Seattle, and now they’re hoping to get our stuff to us tonight. Darling Husband works an overnight shift so that ain’t gonna fly. At the rate they’re going I doubt we’d hear from them tonight anyway.
At this point we’re really pissed, and I’m terrified to see what condition our stuff is in.
I feel like every professional moving story I hear is terrible. My SIL had an awful experience moving internationally, and the movers they hired demanded more money at the last minute before they took her stuff off the truck. Do decent moving companies even exsist? Feel free to rant and share experiences here, I just needed to get this rant off my chest.
For future reference, the company we are using is called Condor, based out of Arlington TX. Stay away from ’em.
