We are having the same issue (though, technically end of October is at the end of hurricaine season, so you are safer than you would be in September…)

Would you consider Hawaii?  Costa Rica?  Europe?  All of those are outside of the hurricaine belt.

You can also do some great trips in the US.  Philadelphia, Baltimore, Boston, Las Vegas.

How about Hawaii, Asia, or Europe?  If you’re looking to stay closer to the US, I think Aruba and parts of Mexico our outside of the hurricane belt.  It depends on your budget but there are a ton of great options!

We are consering staying in the states.  We might go to Nags Head or Florida, but if we decide to go to an island we’ll probably go to Aruba since its not in the hurricane belt

We did allot of research and Costa Rica is definitely out of the hurricane zone. We settled on an all inclusive, http://www.mytropicalhoneymmon.com that was awesome. It is also the end of rainly season there. The days are mostly beautiful with some afternoon showers and it is not to far from the states.

Aruba is in the hurricane zone a little but not supposed to get many hurricanes at all. I think Bonaire is safe as well.  Good luck!

Europe can be lovely that time of year.  California wine country is also beautiful in October!

New England is beautiful in the Fall & you wouldn’t need to worry about passports! The weather tends to be comfortable & the evenings still fairly long. You could definitely fly into Boston, spend a night or two there & then take a drive North to Maine, New Hampshire & Vermont. There are so many romantic B&B’s & it’s a bit more quiet right before the ski season begins.
Love your name btw – my family are huge fans of The Godfather!

I think all of the West Coast of Mexico and Baja California (in Mexico) is safe from hurricanes.  I know there are a couple other threads on these boards on Puerto Vallarta.  Especially the resorts a bit further from town (Nuevo Vallarta) are absolutely stunning.  We were there for New Year’s 2008 and loved it. I notice that you are in B’ham, FYI there are pretty good flights from DTW to PV (we flew from there right after Xmas when we went).

I agree with many of the other posters also about places like Hawaii, Europe, California…but except for CA most are quite a bit further.

I’m getting married on Oct 24, too, and we’re going to Tahiti.
