While my shower was held at the home of my Maid/Matron of Honor, I threw hers at a local French bistro and wine bar in one of their private dining rooms.  I’ve also attended showers at cupcake shops, teahouses and community clubhouses.

Local restaurants do nice lunches. We did my friends at a nice log cabin type place with just soup and salad bar and it was delish!!

Mine’s here (but during the day):

Mine will be in a small private room at an Italian restaurant in NYC. Carmine’s Restaurant on B’way & 91 st street. My mom is hosting and her NYC apartment is too small for a party.

Im super excited about it!

Mine was hosted at a local french restaurant that had a private space. In addition to restaurants, you could check with local community halls. Volunteer fire companys, community centers, churches, Knights of Columbus, etc. often have halls that can be rented for events.

Mine hasn’t been planned yet, it won’t be til next summer.  But my sister and I have talked about it briefly and I think we’ll have it at our Yacht Club.  That sounds totally pretentious, but it’s not a very fancy place at all… but we have access for free bc my dad is a member of the club and keeps his sailboat there.  Should be fun!

Mine is in the meeting room of an ambulance service.  It’s a simple, 20’x20′ white room.  Having events at emergency service halls is totally in the norm where I’m from, though it sound a bit odd.  At least we’re helping a not-for-profit off in the process 🙂

I hosted my little sisters shower at a beautiful winery. My little sister hosted my big sisters at a really nice restaurant, it had private rooms upstairs. Gorgeous! They’re hosting mine, probably at a nicerestaurant in a private room.

Mine is being held in a big party room at a nice condo. 🙂

But I’ve been to bridal showers just about anywhere you can hold a party (restaurant, hall, bar, house etc)

@FutureMrsJohnston:  The guest definitely did not pay. We divided the cost between the bridesmaids, moh gave a little more. I make all of the cakes & mob gave a contribution. So if it was $1500 for x amount of people we did the math minus mom contribution.

@FutureMrsJohnston:  My mom is hosting, so no, our guests will not be paying for anything.

I saw a copy of the contract, and our luncheon will come in at around $1300, for about 40 guests with a family style lunch and champagne.

But also keep in mind this is New York City, where everything is more expensive!

The Shower for Mr TTR and I was a Couple’s Shower and it was held at a Sports Venue.  It was with 15 or so friends and a lot of fun.

The first time round (circa 1980)…. and I had 3 Showers that were hosted by different people (an Aunt, an Neighbour, and the Church Ladies).  The Aunt’s and the Neighbour’s were at their homes.  The Church Ladies had their’s in the Church Hall.

If a home isn’t available (BTW, as a point of Etiquette… it is not usually held at the home of a Mother… because that appears to be too “gift grabby”… it is usually thrown by another realtive… like an Aunt, Cousin, etc)… then you could look into things like Church Halls, Community Centres and such.  And I’ve been to showers that have also been held at Restaurants… but that can get a bit pricey cause then the Hosts have to foot the bill for food & drink.

Hope this helps,
