Fiance and I were talking to some jewelers today, (about selling an older ring we have), and the one jeweler we talked to showed us exactly how much some retailers inflate their diamond/jewelry prices. We know it happens of course, but we were shocked at some of the markups! There are definitely some stores where you obviously “pay for the name”.. but that got me thinking, I wonder how many people/guys just go to the stores at the local mall, or other large chains, because of their convenience factor, and not realize just how much they are over-paying?
So out of curiosity, where is your ring from?

Mine is from Shane Company.

Mine’s from Adiamor for that very reason. Similar ring a tiffany’s would be 50% to 100% more expensive due to markup.

Mine is from a local jewelry store

Fiance custom designed mine with a local referral from a friend. He looked up the specs of the diamond he was considering purchasing from this family owned business on blue nile and it was TWICE the cost on Blue Nile. I got the size stone I wanted, custom ring and in platinum for WAY LESS than he would have spend elsewhere 🙂

Mine’s from Zales. We’ve been very happy with their service and quality thus far.

My stone is from Kay (from my original setting) and my setting w/ all the side stones are from Jared. We know we could have gotten a better price if we had looked a little harder, but I saw the ring and fell in love with it. Also, our sales guy was awesome and we had a pretty crappy experience at Kay before so Fiance would have paid just about anything just so I wasn’t so depressed about it anymore.

My diamond is my husband’s grandmother’s and the setting is from the Roberta Z collection at Reeds Jewelers. My wedding band was designed and made by the local jeweler at Reeds. His also came from Reeds and is a Triton ring.

Mine came from Robert Forest Jewlers in Staten Island.
The owners really like Future Mother-In-Law, so they told her to tell us to stop in and they’d see if they had anything we liked.
