Dearborn checking in 😉
Im getting married in White Lake, MI but I currently live in the yoop! Marquette actually! All of my family and fiances family live down state for the most part.
@rawrrrrr: Thanks!! We chose indian springs metropark as our venue. It was a compromise to our families because we really wanted to get married in marquette because it’s just so gorgeous up here (they didnt want to make everyone do the drive haha)… but indian springs is so beautiful so I’m super excited!!
@vorpalette: hahahah my photographer is literally the only thing i have picked for certain (technically I’m still a waiting bee for like a monthish but we’ve already selected a date with our families and everything. FI wants to officially be employed post-grad before he asks, which I understand. He had 5 interviews this week though and now we are BOTH playing the waiting game and it. is. TORTURE.)
@rawrrrrr: haha oh yes, it is for sure a long way. I think it’s funny how the two of us (meaning my fiance and I) are expected to drive the long way (a lot of times) to plan for the wedding and get married down state but family members cant make the drive one time. Oh family, gotta love them. But so far everything has going fairly smooth and it’s coming up, woo!! And that’s awesome that you’re going to be in a wedding up here, I’m sure it will be lots of fun!
@Megan10513: OMG yes. My mother originally was referring to venues outside of the kalamazoo area as “destination wedding venues.” I was like WTF… I live two hours away from kalamazoo. I actually had to sit down with a rough draft of our guest list and make tally marks of how many people would have to travel to kalamazoo vs. other venues. When I pointed out that more people would have to travel to get to kalamazoo she finally chilled.
@rawrrrrr: OMG I LOOOOOVVVVEEE Planterra. That was the look Fiance and I were originally going for, and that would have been the “dream” place. However, our 50-60 guest wedding wouldn’t have met them minimum, and they’re SOO expensive. We could have afforded it, but decided we’d rather spend the money on other things, like a new house and boat(we’re moving back in a couple months). I also checked out Goldner Walsh in Pontiac, but ruled them out because, well, it’s Pontiac, lol. Then when on the hunt for a clear top tent, and too pricey. So we chose Cobblestone and we both couldn’t be happier!
Let me know if you need any advice on venues. I have literally spent HOURS on the internet looking for the out of the way, non typical wedding venues. Good luck!
I am also a Michigan bride! I’m currently living in Birmingham, AL but we will be getting married on August 9th of next year in St. Clair Shores. So excited!!
Another Michigan bride here!! Although I’m a bit further north than everyone. I’m in the eastern UP near St. Ignace and Sault Ste. Marie
