Newly engaged Michigan bride here! …and on the hunt for the perfect (not crazy expensive) venue. @pokey730: Planterra is so far our top venue choice, but I would LOVE to hear about the venues you found that have a similar look. We’ve been having quite a hard time finding places we like with our budget.

@MossyMayhem:  Planterra was my top choice too but wayy out of my price range! I never saw it in person but the pictures are amazing! Where are you located? There are a lot of venues to choose from in my area.  We ended up going with Waldenwoods, its so beautiful!!

Not a bride anymore, our wedding was last month. But if any Oakland County bees need vendor references, I had amazing vendors!

On our short list for venues we’ve looked at:

Planterra in West Bloomfield, The Westin Southfield (Atrium), The Matthaei Botanical Gardens in Ann Arbor, St. John’s Inn (Atrium) in Plymouth, and Goldner Walsh Greenhouse in Pontiac.

All of these seem to be either quite expensive, too small, or the music has to end by 10:30 – which, sadly, is a total deal-breaker for us.

Planterra is our top choice, but we’re not sure if we can make it fit into our budget. Hopefully we’ll be able to… we have a meeting with them this week to find out.

::fingers crossed::

After the venue is tied down, we have all the other vendors to look for. If anyone in the area has recommendations, I’d LOVE to hear ’em!

New MI bride to be here 🙂 In Howell – so I seem to fall right in the middle/gray area between Lansing/E.Lansing areas and Detroit/AA area that places seem to split things up into. Trying to find a great venue right now – shooting for Fall 2015 – right now making a list of possible places – seems we will be on the smaller side, right now 75-100 I’d say for our estimations right now. If anyone has any tips I’d appreciate it!!

FtrMrsStein15: What kind of venue would you prefer?  Do you have a general budget yet?

I’m based out of Troy and grew up in Hartland, so I know the venues around you fairly well.
