Go somewhere you’ve never been for sure, and that’s as radically different from anywhere that either of you have seen in the past!

    Turks and Caicos is beautiful.

Fiance and I are doing Thailand, if that’s something worth considering. For 4grand total (like 3900, taxes included), it covers:

    • Round trip flights
    • 15 day vacation in an all inclusive 5 star hotel

Soo..free food, free booze, 15 days, and flight included. I thought that it was a pretty great deal!

@the_future_mrs:  OMG I’m jealous.  My Fiance spent a month in Thailand and has been dying to take me there… some day!  (Can I ask where you are staying?)

@Alip22:  I would say you may want to think about weather.  Turks and Caicos and Barbados are incredible, but September is still in hurricaine season (although I think they’ve been spared the past couple of years) and it’s also the “low season” for them.  I’m sure it will be gorgeous, just slightly hotter than the high season.  But just something to think about.

On the other hand, September is one of my favorite months (great weather) for Maui and Kauai.  Since you’ve already been to Maui, Kauai would be a good one to think about.

Well, i would weigh in the fact of hurricane season in the cariibean during that time (august to october are peak months for it!.. I have been to the cayman islands (absolutely beautiful) 7 mile beach is amazing and the water is unbelievably clear, but the hurricane thing would bug me because of the risk youre taking with weather.. hawaii is a safe bet although you have already been to maui.. maybe try a different island?  or perhaps mexico on the pacific side? I have always wanted to go to Rio.  Looks amazing.

I voted “other”. We HM’ed in Bermuda late last October and it was amazing! The island itself is gorgeous and the people are some of the nicest I’ve ever met. Bermuda houses one of the top 10 beaches in the world (Horseshoe Bay) and it was beyond words. Honestly, we had the time of our lives and can’t wait to go back.

ETA: While October is hurricane season for the Caribbean, Bermuda is very rarely affected since it’s so far north. They only see a hurricane once every 8-9 years and they rarely do any serious damage. When we were there, the weather was gorgeous (75-80 most days) with not a cloud in the sky for the majority of the time. It was overcast and rainy on our last day but we didn’t really mind since we used that time for mostly shopping anyway.

I vote for fiji as I’m going there for my honeymoon. It’s reasonabley cheap and you will get your moneys worth. I’m staying on a luxury island though $8000 including flights, transfrers, meals and its for 6 nights. You can get places heaps cheaper check out trip advisor for advice too.

@Alip22:  I would talk to a travel agent too! If I had the time, we would be going to Turks & Caicos. Hawaii doesn’t have adults only resorts and that was something that was important to us. When we go on our honeymoon our daughter will have just turned 3 and if we wanted to or were going to be around kids-we would go on a family vacation and take her. So we’re going to Maroma Beach in Mexico, it is also one of the top 10 beaches in the world.

Our travel agent, really, really helped soo much! Travel agent & Trip adivsor-2 best tips I have!

We are going to Costa Rica for eight days and staying at Oxygen Jungle Villas. There are so many things we are looking forward to doing there – although the beach is gorgeous, there’s so much more to do there. We will be whale watching, taking a canopy tour of the rainforest, white water rafting, zip-lining, visiting a wildlife preserve, touring the volcanoes, and we’ll still have time to relax on the beach or at the infinity pool and take in the gorgeous scenery. And Costa Rica is very affordable in October – it’s the green season which means it will rain in short bursts most afternoons, but I’m told it clears up and the day is beautiful after. Here is a pic of our villa – it will be under $150 a night.

I voted Kauai as I just got back a couple weeks ago from my honeymoon there. The whole island has a small town feel and everyone we met both locals and travelers were so nice! We stayed in Princeville at the Westin resort on the north shore and it was gorgeous. I would def recommend a rental car as there is so much to see on the island though. Poipu is on the south shore and has a couple great beaches for snorkling. There are also some cute small towns on the east shore that have shops for getting trinkets to take back home and even more great beaches. Wailua waterfalls are amazing with a bit of a hike, and Opeka waterfalls are also very pretty just for sight seeing. (btw I may have gotten the spelling on some places wrong) The canyon on the island is breath taking too. And the beach “at the end of the road” is a good swimming spot. OOh there was also an amazing little mexican restraunt called Frederico’s in the shopping center in Princeville and it is fairly cheap and so tasty.

Sorry for the novel I just can’t say enough positive things about my stay on Kauai. Love it and would highly highly recommend 🙂

I think October is a great time to go to the Carribean as prices are lower to reflect the end of hurricane season. We found several offers online that were significantly cheaper than Hawaii and for us (East Coast) the flight is much shorter than Hawaii. However, my dream honeymoon would be Hawaii if the flights were not so long or we had mroe days off. Go somewhere you have never been before is my best advice.

I would do a crusie! I think they are wonderful honeymoon destinations because you get to  wake up in different countries every day- and you can visit mosst of the places on your list wiht one cruise.

Hurricanes happen. But you can’t plan everything around them. October is a pretty late month for them. Just make sure you get insurance if case something happens. But that shouldn’t be a contributing factor to your decision to go on a honeymoon in the carribean.

Kauai–friends honeymooned there last year and they had such a great time. No hurricanes over there in Hawaii, and like others pointed out, October is prime time! Don’t want your Honeymoon ruined by a storm!

My DH and I did a cruise… One of our stops was Grand Cayman… GORGEOUS… Seriously… Such a beautiful beach and water… We wished we could have 2 days there… Definitely Americanized, in terms of the restaurants, etc… But SO SO SO beautiful! (We went in September)
