@StuporDuck:  I think people should be flagged for VICIOUS attacks, PERSONAL information, and RACIST/HOMOPHOBIC remarks.  Not for having differing opinions.

FYI- flagging doesn’t necessarily result in a warning. Some bees are super sensitive  and might flag anything that hurts their feelings or they disagree with, whether it violates the TOS or not. Flags are reviewed by the moderators who decide what action, if any, needs to be taken.

You can also flag positive things to bring them to the attention of the moderators.

I’ll miss Upstate Cait too. She was blunt and even sometimes abrasive, but she was a bee who you could depend on to give you honest feedback.

I know that many times I simply refrain from commenting because I simply can’t come up with a nice way to say “You are out of your mind if you think that will look nice at your wedding!”

@peachacid:  Yeah, but….. we don’t know what was said. I’m not ascribing those personality traits to her or anything, but I can’t pass a judgment on something I know nothing about.

@peachacid:  You don’t know what reason or remark she flagged.  The mods don’t issue warning jusst because you have a different opinon.  I have pissed off some OP in the past by my diifering opinon but was only warned once for name calling and I did call The op a name.

@julies1949:  That’s true, flags don’t neccesarily equal warnings, but they do draw mod attention to a post that might have otherwise just disappeared or resolved itself.

I feel like sometimes someone is being stupid and deserves to be told it.  And I feel like those who agree with me just keep getting banned.

@bookworm88:  That’s what is such a shame. I was a member of a forum that used % of ‘bad comments’ and another where you could ‘earn your stars back’ once you’d been warned.

Seems like a much fairer system.

@bookworm88:  but if the Bee isn’t violating the TOS, they don’t get a warning.

I also think some people need to get more honest feedback, but the mods have made it clear that if you can’t think of a nice way to say it, you are better off keeping your comments to yourself.

Well that sucks.  I was just thinking this morning that I hadn’t seen her posting lately and I haven’t even be around that much.  I liked Cait.  99% of the time I agreed with what she had to say.  She tells it like it is.  I guess people can’t handle that.

@lookingglass:  There are tons of forums on the internet.  My thing is if you don’t like the TOS here, go elsewhere and let your freak flag fly.  But this is a site about weddings and love you know… and the mods built it how they see fit.  They run the site, we don’t & I personally respect the decisions they make even if I do not agree with them.

I never really used to flag much (maybe spam, obvious trolls), but I’ve turned into a massive flagger.  It’s usually just because things are on the wrong board.  I don’t think I’d want to be a hostess, but would love to have the power to move threads!

@deetroitwhat:  Woah woah woah! I completely understand that. I was just mentioning another method that I’d seen that worked well, that’s all.

Never mind.

I am super bummed by this. I always enjoyed UpstateCait’s posts, and she was one of my few fellow Upstate NY bees! I agree that the warning count should reset, when you have been here for years and have thousands of posts, I think that should be taken into account.

@bookworm88:  Well just so we’re all clear, flags cause Mods to look at posts, which can cause warnings, which eventually lead to bannings even if you have thousands and thousands of other nice posts.

I don’t think it was unclear.

It’s a little unfair to tell a bee that her flagging was in poor judgment when we have NO IDEA why she opted to flag in the first place. That’s my point, and my ONLY point.
